2 Hall-Perrine Cancer Center now offers High Risk Cancer Genetic services. What is High Risk Cancer Genetic Services? We already know that certain cancers such as breast, colon, ovarian and pancreatic cancers run in families. Genetic testing identifies those considered to have an increased risk of developing cancer. When a patient is considered high risk, a high risk cancer genetic nurse practitioner follows the patient and orders tests as appropriate to ensure that if cancer develops, it is caught in the earliest stages. Genetic testing allows physicians to tailor treatment specific to a particular genetic mutation, which improves outcomes. Why Hall-Perrine Cancer Center? Hall-Perrine Cancer Center possesses a full multidisciplinary oncology team to care for all patient needs. Amie Hass, ARNP, Hall-Perrine Cancer Center s High Risk Cancer Genetic ARNP, receives referrals from all medical providers when a patient is identified as high risk. Amie works closely with surgical, radiation and medical oncologists to ensure high-risk patients receive the proper genetic testing and follow-up visits. 3 Page 1 of 2 New Heparin Nomogram DVT/PE TREATMENT: Situation: A new Heparin Nomogram will be available beginning February 8 th for the TREATMENT of DVT/PE Background: The Medication Management Committee reviewed the current treatment of DVT/PE as well as current chest guidelines. Assessment: It was proposed to: o Change the Heparin Neuro Nomogram title to Heparin Nomogram No Bolus o Add Heparin Nomogram DVT/PE Treatment o Keep the Heparin Nomogram Cardiac Recommendations: See attached screen shots of the order set. Be aware of this new Heparin Nomogram and utilize for DVT/PE TREATMENT beginning February 8 th. This is intended for DVT/PE TREATMENT, NOT to be used for prophylaxis.
