2 WELCOME COURSE DESCRIPTION The 9th Annual Clinical Breakthroughs & Challenges in Hematologic Malignancies is designed to present the most recent diagnostic and therapeutic advances and treatment options in hematologic malignancies. This one-day conference will cover various topics such as MDS, AML, NHL, ALL, CLL and multiple myeloma and will be presented in a format that includes plenary lectures, case presentations and discussions. Ample time will be available for networking. Breakfast, lunch and breaks are provided. TARGET AUDIENCE This conference is specifically designed for hematologists, medical oncologists, pharmacists, fellows, residents, physician assistants, nurses and other healthcare personnel who are interested in this field. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES At the end of this conference, participants will be able to: 1. Identify therapeutic approaches and alternatives for initial CML therapy 2. Discuss treatment options for MPNs and MDS/MPN overlap syndromes 3. Identify clinical and biologic features that impact therapeutic outcomes in MDS 4. Describe the role of hypomethylating agents in high-grade MDS and discuss novel combinations 5. Discuss and identify prognostic factors in older adults with AML 6. Describe therapeutic regimens in mantle cell lymphoma 7. Examine novel and targeted therapies for relapsed NHL 8. Discuss the use of novel agents, including tyrosine kinase inhibitors, in the management of ALL 9. Examine indications and treatment options for indolent multiple myeloma 10. Explain molecular variables affecting therapeutic decisions for CLL ACCREDITATION Physicians This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of, Moffitt Cancer Center, and the Florida Association of Clinical Oncology. is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. designates this educational activity for a maximum of 7 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This knowledge-based program has been approved for 7 contact hours. Universal program number is as follows: L01P To receive continuing education credit, a pharmacist must attend the accredited sessions, actively participate in the method of active learning and must return the program evaluation instrument. In order to receive full credit, registrants must register no later than 10 minutes after the start of the meeting and must attend the entire meeting. Nurses is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. A maximum of 7 contact hours may be earned by learners who successfully complete this continuing nursing education activity.
