2 Skin Cancer Dermatologic Surgery: Focus on Skin Cancer Physician Course Description The ASMS is pleased to present another exciting program for dermatologic surgeons, featuring several new breakout sessions focusing on problematic Mohs, repair and complication cases, histopathology challenges and innovative suturing techniques. Participants are invited to bring their own cases for group discussion. Program Overview The Memorial Day weekend schedule will allow attendees to participate in an enriching CME program within minutes of Orlando s exceptional family entertainment, fine dining options, world-class shopping, and outdoor recreational venues. The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress offers a spectacular full service resort experience. Dermatologic surgery and the Mohs procedure have always been the cornerstones of ASMS educational activities. This year s Focus on Skin Cancer will highlight the latest advances in diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer, as well as important management topics to assist physicians in navigating changing medical practice dynamics. The program incorporates current research findings and new surgical and reconstructive perspectives, along with interactive panel discussions by leading experts on repair approaches, melanoma treatment, and special tumors. Elective microscope lab sessions present challenging Mohs and dermatopathologist-provided unknown cases, while small-group pathology discussions reinforce valuable key concepts. 3 About the American Society for Mohs Surgery The ASMS is a professional medical education society with over 1150 physician and Mohs technician members, primarily Board-certified dermatologists with extensive training and experience in dermatologic surgery and the Mohs surgical technique. Due to the high incidence of skin cancer worldwide and the efficacy of Mohs surgery in the treatment of basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas, the ASMS advocates high quality Mohs training for all surgically-oriented dermatologists. We also acknowledge and welcome Society participation by other international specialists who routinely utilize the Mohs technique in their respective countries. We support our members through strong Mohs advocacy efforts, practice issues assistance, and patient education and referral resources. Our Peer Review program provides important quality assurance feedback on an annual basis. Our Clinical Observational Preceptorship program offers exceptional one-on-one training opportunities by pairing new Mohs surgeons with highly-experienced surgical mentors. Our quarterly member newsletter, The Beveled Edge, informs Mohs surgeons of vital policy issues, announces new Society programs and services, and includes educational highlights from our annual courses. The ASMS s educational activities now total four annually. Spring meetings include The Closure Course and Annual Meeting Dermatologic Surgery: Focus on Skin Cancer. Fall meetings include Basal Cell and Squamous Cell Cancer Pathology for Mohs Surgeons and Fundamentals of Mohs Surgery. New and expanded topics are regularly introduced to keep pace with members changing technological and medical educational needs. Focus on Skin Cancer Faculty Sanjiv S.
