Don t forget to get ready for our footy challenge night on 26 september. September is Basic Education & Literacy month. FROM OUR PRESIDENT, COMMITTEE CHAIRS and ROTARIANS President Ruth Byers commenced our meeting inviting Jane Challis to deliver the invocation. Liz Derricks provided the toast including a belated toast to the Rotary Club of Montreal. Ruth warmly welcomed back Bob Collins and guests Rita Collins, Xenia Williamson and Josie Waldron. An invite to the Lions Club Oaks Day Chicken and Champagne lunch was announced [see Ruth or Ron for details]. Our Christmas raffle, commencing at the Tastes of the Goulburn, was confirmed with the following prizes 1 st prize, 6 x 4 trailer, 2 nd prize, lawn mower, 3 rd prize, ladies beauty pamper pack, 4 th prize, printer and 5 th prize, $50.00 voucher from the Prince of Wales. Ruth also advised that we would commit to gate management at the upcoming Seymour Show, following a meeting with Jason at the Ag Society [more details to follow]. The meeting was handed to our Chairman Dimitra who called for reports: Secretary Ron advised that the upcoming RLI was full, with the next opportunity beginning in February. Treasurer Dimitra advised that Club financials had been distributed. If there are any questions please ask. Community Service chair Greg thanked all who were involved in the weekends Adopt A Road activity [ see details below]. On behalf of Service Projects chair Tony, Mark advised that he would be speak to all present tonight for assistance with filling the Seymour Market, trash and treasure stall, roster for this Sunday. Past President Gary, advised that the Relay For Life would take place on Saturday at Kings Park and that all were welcome to participate.

18 th September Seymour Market, trash and treasure stall 26 September Lunch on the River 30 th September[evening] & 1 October Seymour Show 13 th October - Board Meeting 15 th October Tastes of the Goulburn Tonight s head table, President Ruth, Seymour Ag Society President Jason Ronald and Chairman Dimitra. Our very special guest tonight was Jason Ronald OAM, President of the Seymour Agricultural and Pastoral Society. Jason s family history of involvement in Agricultural Shows across the state would suggest that he was destined to become the Seymour Society s President, as he did, early in He commenced his presentation by giving a brief lesson about the history of the Seymour Show. The first Show took place in 1858 initially on a Tuesday, on land just next to the Royal Hotel, before moving to its existing location at Kings Park in The Society is the longest serving community based organisation in the district and continues to play a significant role in the fabric of our community. Jason acknowledged the important role that Rotary members, past and present, have played with current members, Vivian Beaumont, Bryan Tehan, David Freeman and Taylan Atar playing at active and important role in the Society s current activity. The past involvement of the McLarty, Greenshields and Wales families were also acknowledged. The 2016 show which will take place on the evening of 30 September and 1 October, will continue the recent growth with the schedule including : The Cook Off, the wool off, the lick off, the scoot off and the knit off. This is of course is to support all the traditional show activity such as : Cattle, working dogs, poultry, preserves, needlework and crafts competitions. The evening of the 30 th will be a family night with bands, food, rides and fireworks. Jason graciously accepted our Angel Flight donation and his own angel gift.

Adopt a Road September 2016 Fiona McCarthy, Tony Woodhouse, Martin Raby and Greg Byers hard at work. The Rotary Club of Seymour conducted a cleanup of the Yea entrance to Seymour on Sunday 11th September The following members must be congratulated on their efforts: Tony Woodhouse, Fiona McCarthy, Martin Raby, John Keeffe, Gary Doherty, Liz Derricks, Greg Byers and of course Dim Giannopoulos. From the Seymour Golf Club to the Welcome to Seymour sign, a full Tandem trailer load of garbage was collected. Well done to those who attended. I would encourage other members to come along, after all Rotary is a community Service Club, and what better way to support the community than to pick up their garbage. Following the clean up several members enjoyed a great afternoon BBQ at Martin's home, thanks Martin and Kara for your hospitality.. A note from the editor : Input into our weekly Club Bulletin is welcome from all members. If you have something you would like recorded please let me know personally on or preferably drop me an on flavourgourmetfods@gmail.com. A Microsoft Word document you would like reproduced is preferred. This is an ongoing opportunity for you to get something off your chest, offer an opinion or simply let the club membership know of something which is important to you. Thanks Mark

Harassing Hugh hit the lectern tonight with a blistering attack on an unsuspecting audience of innocent bystanders. He brutalised them with some outlandish bunkum including the returning Bob Collins for prowling the room to reclaim his territory and for donating the biscuits back to the lucky wheel. Mark was gone for no name badge. Chaddy was pinged again for having buckets full of coins and Liz for her Montreal blooper. Our resident podiatrist Gary was fined for his crushed hand [how did it happen Gary?] and our President Ruth was hit for her new fingernail colours. Crossfines were aplenty with Dim hitting Martin for taking credit for a found mobile phone and a freeby knife sharpen. Greg hit Martin again for the overuse of stiff rubbish bags at $1.00 each and yet again Martin for taking a snooze at 3pm on Sunday, or was he just suggesting that everyone should just go home! Sharon had had a tough week and fined Taylan for filling her up with 2 glasses of wine and in his absence, Sue fined Tony for being in hospital for her last two birthdays. Finally Greg was admonished for suggesting that our Adopt a Road cleanup team should leave some rubbish for next time. $32.85 went into the bank. Lessons in Rotary SEVEN HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE ROTARIANS The final of a 7 part article, this week concentrating on THE IMAGE OF ROTARY There may be moments when they feel that all is not right with Rotary. They may feel that there is politics in Rotary. They know that there are some elements in Rotary that should not be there. They, however, look at the goods aspects of Rotary, they always make it a point to project the best face of Rotary. They would not like to let the public image of Rotary get tarnished. For your enjoyment, this weeks lexophilia : [ yep, I still enjoy them and I m still the Bulletin editor, well for the moment anyway ] If you jump off a Paris bridge, you are in Seine.

ROTARY SEYMOUR WEEKLY LUCKY WHEEL Greg obviously got his priorities right this week and devoted all his attention to the revamp of our lucky wheel with outstanding results. With a host of cash and lucky prizes now available we should see a winner every week. Our overall maximum jackpot will be affected but I m sure you will all agree that the revamp is a bewdy. Thanks Greg. Next week we will revert to a simpler raffle ticket purchase of our lucky tickets. Our first spinner with the new format was Tony Woodhouse who walked away with $25. A weekly segment when hopefully we get to know our members a little better. This week I asked Rotarian Fiona McCarthy a few questions. Here are her responses : Where were you born? Warracknabeal How lng have you lived in Semour? - 30 years What is your favourite cuisine? - Asian If you cook what is your favourite recipe? Anything Asian seafood What is your favourite movie? Shawshank Redemption / Sound Of Music Do you have a nickname? - Feef What is your favourite TV show? Jetsons [ as a kid this was the best. I wanted it to happen] Do you have any hobbies? - Painting / cycling What is your favourite holiday destination? - Asia Favourite footy team, if any? North Melbourne [the best] Favourite colour? Aquamarine / Teal Do you have a hero you look up to? - My dad [deceased] Tell us something we don t know about you.
