2 About Camp OutReach (COR) Annual project initiated by NTU students Provides the Deaf community with opportunities to contribute back to society Organised by both the members of COR and the Deaf community Opportunity for our student volunteers to gain a better understanding of Singapore's Deaf culture

3 Camp OutReach (COR) Vision A sustainable platform for both the hearing and Deaf community to volunteer together locally and overseas Mission 1. COR committee members and Deaf participants to go through a yearlong journey of self-discovery and promote the spirit of volunteerism 2. COR committee members to gain greater understanding of the Deaf community in Singapore

4 Camp OutReach (COR) Motto: Breaking the Silence Bridge the silence between the two worlds; Deaf and hearing, through interaction opportunities between the hearing and the Deaf through our outings and CIP projects. Theme: Lost Ancient Civilisation 1. LACM (Lost Ancient Civilisation Myanmar), as Myanmar has an ancient background. 2. Group identity based on different civilisations to facilitate storyline and engagement. Lacedaemon Atlantis Cairo Maya

5 Project Overview Our project will encompass 3 aspects Community Involvement Project Deaf Exchange Storyline and Games

7 Community Involvement Project

8 A Linn Yaung Nunnery Education School Located in Mya Nandar Street, 69 Block, South Dagon The general population worked as labourers and are generally poor with little to no access to education. The nunnery school is a government registered monastery school that provides free education for all children in the vicinity. Population of student: Over 200

9 What will we do there? 1. Construction of Courtyard, Walkway and Drainage System 2. Village Interaction 3. Education

11 Construction School started with zero, but has been given support since We will continue to develop the school s infrastructure. All construction will be done under the supervision of professional contractors.

13 Full Day Excursion (6 th Day) Stimulate the children s interest in learning by bringing education outdoors Morning Shwedagon Pagoda Morning Planeterium (See Stars) Afternoon Zoological Park

14 Village Interaction Cook Meals at School Assist school with Cooking Bring food to villagers Interact with local villagers to learn more about Myanmar s culture.

16 Mary Chapman School for the Deaf The Mary Chapman School for the Deaf provides education for the Deaf School Population: 300 pupils, 12 different ethnic group Age of Students: 5-18

17 Deaf Exchange Sharing of different Deaf cultures by Myanmar Deaf and Singaporean Deaf Done by presentation via slides Team performances on school s stage Games and interaction with the Deaf students

25 Leadership Roles 1) Assistant Group Leader Would you like to step out of your comfort zone and develop your leadership skills? Now is YOUR time to SHINE. Take up the role of an Assistant Group Leader (AGL) and work together with the Chief Group Leaders (CGLs) in leading activities, managing groups, ensuring safety and welfare and more! 2) Deaf Exchange IC Do you have a lot of DEAF PRIDE in you? Eager to share Singapore s Deaf Culture and Sign Language to the Deaf community in Myanmar? Come help to plan the programme and activities that will be conducted at Mary Chapman School of the Deaf! 3) Performance IC Want to express your creativity through a skit or dance performance? Ready to be a director during our COR trip? Come help to plan and choreograph a cultural exchange performance with our fellow PNP members!
