4 PROJECT OVERVIEW FM 969 The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT. 5 Project Overview Reconstruct existing 2-lane roadway from FM 973 to Hunters Bend Rd Proposed project is included in plans for the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) including: 2040 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) CAMPO Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Anticipated construction cost of $7 Million FM 969 Public Hearing December 13,

6 Project Overview Need of the Proposed Project The existing facility does not adequately accommodate current traffic demands, nor would it meet expected future demands. There are safety concerns associated with the current configuration that impact motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. FM 969 Public Hearing December 13,

10 Technical Overview Reconstruct existing 2-lane roadway from FM 973 to Hunters Bend Rd Existing roadway consist of two 11 ft lanes with 4 ft shoulders Isolated turn lanes SH 130, Gilbert Rd, Hound Dog Trail, & Hunters Bend Rd FM 969 Public Hearing December 13,

11 Technical Overview Proposed roadway would have two 12 ft lanes and a 6 ft shoulder in each direction Continuous 12 ft center turn lane Add pedestrian improvements including 5 ft continuous sidewalk and crossings at signalized intersections FM 969 Public Hearing December 13,

16 Resources Studied in Further Detail Hazardous Materials Initial Site Assessment (ISA) Query of Regulatory Databases Field Observations Hazardous Materials FINDINGS: No known sources of contamination on the Project Site Historic & Archeological Resources HISTORIC RESOURCES Historic Resources Survey Report Assessed all historic age structures (Let Date 45 years = 1972) in the project area to determine whether they were historically significant. ARCHEOLOGICAL RESOURCES Background Study and an Intensive Archeological Survey Review previously recorded archeological sites Conduct field surveys FINDINGS:Results were reviewed by TxDOT and the Texas Historical Commission. The project would have No Impact on any state listed threatened or endangered species. The project site has potential habitat for 7 Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN).
