4 Session Descriptions Reframing Oral Health New research by the Frameworks Institute shows that there is little understanding of the connection between oral health and overall health and well-being. This session introduces key recommendations for framing oral health and access to oral health care and provides guidance to participants in applying these recommendations to their own communications. PRESENTER: Mackenzie Price, PhD, Frameworks Institute MODERATOR: Nancy Zinser, CRDH, MS, Vice Chairwoman, Oral Health Florida Board of Directors Fluoridation Update & Tablet Delivery 1. In 1949, the Florida Board of Health endorsed community water fluoridation (CWF) and the City of Gainesville became the first community to provide CWF to its citizens in Florida. Since then many communities and water systems have decided to initiate CWF. We will discuss where Florida is currently with access to CWF and how do we move forward as a state. 2. Fluoridation tablets are designed to be an easy to use, less messy way to properly fluoridate small to medium sized municipal water sites. Learn more about this new technology to deliver fluoride to a community water system. 5 FLOSS Report & Oral Health Surveillance This presentation will provide information on data from the FLOSS survey that School-Based Sealant Programs completed. Updates from the Third Grade Oral Health Screening Project and other oral health data will be provided as well. PRESENTERS: Jennifer Wahby, MPH & Louiza Saint-Hillien, MPH, FL Dept. of Health MODERTOR: Susan Gorman, RDH, MEd, Co-Chairwoman of the Oral Health Florida Sealant Action Team A Faith-Based Approach to Oral Health Education This session will provide an overview of a study guide created specifically for Black congregations entitled, Developing a Practical Theology of Health... with TEETH and provide information about study guide training workshops held in Florida. PRESENTER: Rev. Dr. Dawn Riley Duval MODERATOR: Karen Pesce Buckenheimer, RN, BSN, Chairwoman of Oral Health Florida Medical-Dental Action Team Strategies to Improve Access to Dental Care Panelists will provide an overview of their area of expertise and encourage participants to consider how each strategy can improve access to dental care. Speakers Patty Braun, MD, MPH, FAAP Dr. Braun is a Professor of Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Public Health and Dental Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine.

Braun has been implementing medical dental integration in Colorado for over 10 years. Dr.

Dawn Riley Duval Rev. Dr. Duval is a social justice truth teller, a community organizer, a religious first responder, and is a co-founder of the Black Lives Matter Denver Chapter.

6 Speakers Patty Braun, MD, MPH, FAAP Dr. Braun is a Professor of Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Public Health and Dental Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine. She has been a practicing pediatrician at Denver Health and Hospital for 23 years and a health services/ oral health disparity researcher. Dr. Braun has been implementing medical dental integration in Colorado for over 10 years. Dr. Braun earned her MD at the University of Colorado, School of Medicine. Rev. Dr. Dawn Riley Duval Rev. Dr. Duval is a social justice truth teller, a community organizer, a religious first responder, and is a co-founder of the Black Lives Matter Denver Chapter. An ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. Dr. Duval has 15 years' experience as an activist, anti-racism facilitator, and consultant to racially/ethnically diverse grassroots organizations in Colorado, Namibia, and Tennessee. Dr. Duval holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Chicago Theological Seminary. Jane Grover, DDS, MPH Dr. Grover is the Director of the Council on Advocacy for Access and Prevention of the American Dental Association. Prior to joining the ADA, she was the Dental Director of an FQHC in Michigan, adjunct faculty of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and AEGD residency director for Lutheran Medical Center. Dr. Grover earned her DDS at the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry.

Sean Isaac, MPH Mr. Isaac has served the Florida Department of Health as the Statewide Fluoridation Coordinator since 2004. Mr. Isaac has over 16 years of experience working with the State of Florida.

McCarter is the owner and Managing Member of KC Industries, LLC, a Mulberry, Florida producer and distributor of Sodium Fluorosilicate.

In this capacity, he developed a global distribution network for Sodium Fluorosilicate in the U.S. as well as Central and South American, Europe, China and Australia. Mackenzie Price, PhD Dr.

7 Sean Isaac, MPH Mr. Isaac has served the Florida Department of Health as the Statewide Fluoridation Coordinator since Mr. Isaac has over 16 years of experience working with the State of Florida. His current duties and responsibilities include project manager, budget coordinator, contract manager, and health educator. Mr. Isaac earned an MPH from FAMU. Steve McCarter Mr. McCarter is the owner and Managing Member of KC Industries, LLC, a Mulberry, Florida producer and distributor of Sodium Fluorosilicate. Previously he served as President of KC Enterprises and KCI s Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Operations. In this capacity, he developed a global distribution network for Sodium Fluorosilicate in the U.S. as well as Central and South American, Europe, China and Australia. Mackenzie Price, PhD Dr. Price is an applied sociolinguist and senior associate in the research interpretation and application unit at the FrameWorks Institute. Her primary work at FrameWorks Institute develops the training and learning engagement that support partners in applying framing recommendations to their communications practice. She holds a BA in Linguistics from Stanford University and an MS and PhD in Linguistics from Georgetown University.

Louiza Saint-Hillien, MPH Ms. Saint-Hillien is the Data Analyst for the Public Health Dental Program at the Florida Department of Health.

She has an MPH from Nova Southeastern University. Rolande Tellier, MBA, PMP Ms. Tellier is the Senior Project Manager at the Pacific Center for Special Care at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A.

Currently she is managing Pacific s role in the California Dental Transformation Initiative by overseeing the implementation of the Virtual Dental Home in nearly 20 FQHC's in 5 counties, as well as

8 Louiza Saint-Hillien, MPH Ms. Saint-Hillien is the Data Analyst for the Public Health Dental Program at the Florida Department of Health. In this position, she produces statewide surveillance reports, provides technical assistance, fulfills data requests, and oversees several special projects. She has an MPH from Nova Southeastern University. Rolande Tellier, MBA, PMP Ms. Tellier is the Senior Project Manager at the Pacific Center for Special Care at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. Her work focuses on the adoption and implementation of the Virtual Dental Home (VDH) system of care. Currently she is managing Pacific s role in the California Dental Transformation Initiative by overseeing the implementation of the Virtual Dental Home in nearly 20 FQHC's in 5 counties, as well as projects working with the State s Regional Center system serving people with developmental disabilities. Ms. Tellier earned her MBA at Western New England University. Jennifer Wahby, MPH Ms. Wahby is the Statewide School-Based Sealant Program Coordinator for the Public Health Dental Program at the Florida Department of Health. In this position, Jennifer provides technical assistance and monitoring for new programs as well as planning and sustainability for established school-based sealant programs. Jennifer is also the project lead for the planning and implementation of the Public Health Dental Program s Oral Health Screening Projects. She completed her MPH at Walden University.

9 Sarah Wovcha, JD, MPH Ms. Wovcha is the Executive Director of Children s Dental Services in Minneapolis, Minnesota s largest provider of school and Head Start-based dental care serving over 37,000 children annually. Ms. Wovcha was a participant in the passage of Minnesota s dental therapy legislation and currently employs 8 therapists who treat over 12,000 patients annually. She earned her JD from the University of Minnesota and MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health.
