It s also about taking care of ourselves and our families in spirit and mind as well. At the Y, you re not just a member of a facility you are a part of our family. You can be assured that whatever activity you engage in, you ll be surrounded by friends in a positive environment where you will thrive. All active older adult classes and clubs are included in your membership.
2 NEW! SILVERSNEAKERS BOOM The Baby Boomer is now aging into the Silversneakers fitness program benefit! BOOM was developed by leading fitness experts to improve strength, flexibility, and endurance in convenient 30- minute workouts. These classes will challenge you, but don't worry: one-handed pushups aren't required! BOOM MIND Mind is a unique class as it takes the best from Yoga and Pilates and combines it into one fusion class. Designed to relax the body and mind with peaceful music and rhythmic body movements. The focus of this class is on core, lower body strength, and balance. SUN 8:30-9:00 am BOOM MOVE A dance workout class that improves cardio endurance and burns calories starting with simple dance moves then building into more complex sequences. SUN 9:40-10:10 am M/W 10:45-11:15 am BOOM MUSCLE Muscle incorporates athletic based moves that improve upper body conditioning. Muscle conditioning blocks at all different levels are used to offer many different levels and varieties to choose from. The focus of this class is on toning muscles and building overall body strength. SUN 9:05-9:35 am M/W 11:15-11:45 am Studio 1 M/W 8:30-9:00 am PEDALING FOR WELLNESS Join us for a modified 45-minute cycling class designed for a lower intensity ride. We will work up to RPM riding speed after a 10-minute warm up. The cool down and stretch will then bring you to a comfortable heart rate and leave you feeling exhilarated and ready for the rest of your day. By design of this class, participation will help promote a reduction of chronic disease symptoms by following a prescribed cycling protocol. Cycling exercise appears to help restore connections between brain regions which will assist and improve coordination and balance. No registration is necessary. Open to YMCA members. Cycle Studio TUE 1:30-2:15 pm SILVERSNEAKERS CLASSIC Increase muscle strength and range of movement and improve activities for daily living. You ll have a chair for seated exercises and standing support. Your instructor can modify the exercises for your fitness level. M/W 8:15-9:15 am M/W 9:30-10:30 am FRI 8:30-9:15 am FRI 9:30-10:15 am T/TH 12:15-1:00 pm SAT 9:15-10:00 am SILVERSNEAKERS CARDIO FIT Get up and go with an aerobics class that s safe, heart healthy and gentle on the joints. The workout includes easy-to-follow low-impact movement, and upper body strength, abdominal conditioning, stretching and relaxation exercises designed to energize your active lifestyle. FRI 10:30-11:15 am SILVERSNEAKERS CIRCUIT Experience standing, low-impact choreography alternated with standing upper-body strength work. This class is suitable for nearly every fitness level, and your instructor can adapt the exercises depending on your skill. T/TH 10:15-11:00 am
3 SILVERSNEAKERS YOGA Move through seated and standing yoga poses designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. Finish with restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation to promote reduced stress and mental clarity. M/W 12:00-1:00 pm T/TH 9:15-10:00 am T/TH 1:15-2:00 pm SAT 8:15-9:00 am ZUMBA GOLD Zumba Gold targets the largest growing segment of the population: baby boomers. It takes the Zumba formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participant, as well as those just starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle. What stays the same are all the elements the Zumba fitness party is known for: the zesty Latin music, like salsa, meringue, reggae ton, and more; the exhilarating, easy-to-follow moves; and the invigorating, party-like atmosphere. Active older adults want camaraderie, excitement and fitness as a regular part of their weekly schedule. Zumba Gold is the perfect fit. It s a dance-fitness class that feels friendly, and most of all, fun. M/W/F 1:15-2:00 pm SILVERSNEAKERS SPLASH In this fun, shallow-water exercise class you ll use a signature splash-board to increase strength and endurance. Splash is suitable for all skill levels and is safe for non-swimmers. Lap Pool M/W/F 10:00-11:00 am PICKLE-BALL What is pickle-ball? It is the fastest growing sport in North America. Pickle-ball is a combination of tennis and badminton that is played by hitting whiffle balls with lightweight wooden or composite paddles. Played on a badminton court with a 3-foot high net, pickle ball can be played in singles and doubles. It does not require a lot of racket skills, so it is a great lead-up game to tennis for youth and quite popular with seniors because of the smaller court. For more information please call (716) Pickle-ball schedules are located at the Welcome Center or online at YMCABN.org. LIVESTRONG AT THE YMCA January 9 March 29 Wednesday and Friday 11:30 am-1:00 pm The LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program is a research based physical activity program designed to help cancer survivors regain strength, stamina and self-esteem while connecting with fellow survivors in a welcoming, community environment.
