4 PROPOSAL 1. History, Goals, Key Achievements, and Distinctiveness In January 2015, current board President, Rachel Stevenson, sought to revive the LGBTQA social scene that once thrived in Phoenixville, PA from 2001 to 2009 in a little gay bar called Frank Jeffrey s. Once closed, and with the need for social contentedness, the first monthly afternoon tea dance was held on January 11, These tea dances brought together the LGBTQA community from Chester County and surrounding areas. Within three months, it was apparent that these tea dances were more than just monthly social events. Realizing there were few services for the LGBTQA Community in Chester County, and using the energy, momentum, and support from three successful tea dances, the 501(c)3 non-profit, LGBTea Dances was born on March 26, Following continued growth and expansion, the organization changed its name to LGBT Equality Alliance on July 15, 2016 to better position itself in the marketplace as a leading non-profit organization supporting more than just social events. The organization now provides support to the Chester County LGBTQ community in three primary areas: 1) Social Support 2) Health, Medial and Wellness Support 3) Education and Awareness Goals Long Term Goals: Our number one goal is to eventually go out of business! While this sounds strange, and somewhat ironic when it comes to asking for funding support, LGBT Equality Alliance partners with supportive local organizations in fundraising, education, and outreach activities in hopes that one day our services will no longer be needed. LGBT Equality Alliance aims to remove barriers of communication between Chester County LGBTQ+ residents and the greater community. Rather than create a community center, it is our focus to unify the greater community so all LGBTQ+ community members feel at home and supported in their living environment. Short Term Goals: 1) Increase annual budget to $100,000 by end of ) Create Our Neighborhood LGBTQ+ Support Groups in all area hospitals 3) Provide $10,000+ in scholarships to area LGBTQ and ally students 4) Provide $5,000+ in mini grants to area Gay Straight Alliances looking to further our initiatives in the school setting

5 5) Continue to host an annual Chester County Pride Festivals 6) Offer a thorough online resource page to county residents providing LGBTfriendly services available in the area. 7) Lower suicide rates among LGBTQ community members by providing education and support to area students and residents. 8) Develop a mentor program for LGBTQ students. 9) Lower the smoking, alcohol, and substance abuse rates among area LGBTQ residents. 10) Provide education and awareness to area businesses, organization, clubs, and nonprofits on LGBT issues and social concerns. Key Achievements: 1) Hosted 2 successful galas in less than 18 months in business 2) Raised $28,000 during 2016 Pride weekend 3) Hosted first area Pride Festival in over a decade 4) Donated $5,000 to the local Phoenixville GSA Club, which has since outfitted their school with a selection of LGBTQ library books, provided backpacks filled with toiletries and blankets to local foster children, and volunteered at local LGBT events. 5) Hosted an LGBTQ Art event in February 2016, bringing together 250 local LGBT community members in support of the LGBTQ (And allied) art community. 6) Hosted the first LGBTQ Health Fair at Phoenixville YMCA 7) Organized the first area LGBT support group at Phoenixville Hospital (Our Neighborhood) 8) Hosted a mixture of monthly social events, game nights, bowling events, and tea dances to community members. 9) Hosted two concerts providing a safe and supportive social setting to community members. 10) Attended various organization meetings around the County providing education and support on LGBT topics. 11) Donated $500 to the Rainbow Connection event at West Chester University 12) Hosted a county-wide vigil following the Orlando Massacre 13) Organized support for area residents following the Orlando Massacre 14) Donated $2600 to the Orlando LGBT Community Center through a 50/50 fundraising drive. 15) Opened our first office in Phoenixville, PA Distinctiveness: Quite simply, we are the only non-profit organization in Chester County created to support LGBTQ residents. In essence, we are the only organization who can properly meet the needs of the LGBT community and offer support to area residents and organizations. Funding Request 1) Items request: a. Macbook Air - $1649

6 b. Home and Business Office Software for Mac = $200 c. 3 Years Warranty $199 TOTAL: $2048 2) We are asking CCCF to fund the purchase of a laptop, Microsoft Office, and a laptop warranty to provide interns with equipment needed to assist in daily jobs and tasks that will improve the productivity and overall functionality of the organization. 3) Since we are now in a new office, we have the ability and interest in hosting local University interns. We would like our interns to focus on social media marketing, database entry, website development, video campaign creation, and other computer-based tasks. We do not currently have a computer available for these activities. The only computer available is a personal Mac Laptop computer used by Board President, Rachel Stevenson. We are requesting the Mac brand to provide seamless communication among platforms, as we will also utilize a ipad and iphones for event check in and registration. 4) Expected Activities for Implementation: a. Purchase of laptop and installation of software b. Timeline: less than a week to implement 5) Why important? a. We are at a critical point in our organization where we need to grow, develop interns, and offer the equipment necessary for daily work and activity. b. Without a second computer, interns will not be able to assist with much needed support and activity. c. We do not want to require interns to bring their own laptops for a variety of reasons: i. Liability ii. Incompatible software and platforms iii. Many interns don t have the required software, or equipment needed 6) The impacts will be demonstrated through the following: a. A detailed report on achievements completed by interns with laptop. b. Report on improved social media presence and website content.
