October 2014 In form Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust s Staff Newsle er Congratula ons to all of the winners at this year s Staff Awards! The awards ceremony was a huge success with nearly two hundred staff, plus some of our pa ents and partner organisa ons, turning out at the event at the Shropshire Educa on and Conference Centre. We would like to say congratula ons to those people who were nominated and Highly Commended, and also thank you to those people who nominated their colleagues and helped to make the occasion such a huge success. Thanks to the enthusiasm shown by staff we ended up with a list of finalists packed with great examples of what we do well, and the people who do it. We know that everyone at the Trust contributes to providing quality services, and those highlighted at this year s Staff Awards really do provide a snapshot of the hard work and dedica on of our staff. You can find out all about the Winners and those who were Highly Commended inside this newsle er. Find out who the winners were at this year s Staff Awards inside this edi on of Inform.
Staff Awards 2014 and the winners were Team of the Year Award Care of the Next Infant (CONI) Co ordinators The Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust s CONI Co ordinators are a team of Health Visitors who are enthusias c, mo vated, professional, caring, compassionate and amazing. The Care of the Next Infant (CONI) Co ordinators Team collect their Award from Kerri Edwards, Hotel Servicers Manager (Ludlow), and Mike Ridley, Chairman Staff Member of the Year Award (direct pa ent care) Jenny Paul (Highly Specialist Occupa onal Therapist with the Community Neuro Rehab Team in Shrewsbury) Jenny Paul is dedicated, hardworking and delivers outstanding quality of care to her pa ents. I o en think to myself, she deserves a medal. Jan Ditheridge, Chief Execu ve, presents Jenny with her Award
Staff Member of the Year Award (indirect pa ent care) Theresa Taff (Senior Financial Accountant) Teresa works relessly behind the scenes within the finance team to support front line service delivery. She is always welcoming and friendly no ma er what problem she is faced with. HIGHLY COMMENDED: Dee Radford (Lead Nurse for Quality) and Tracey Bowen (Clerical Officer for the Therapy Admin Team at Coral House). Leader of the Year Award Alison Parkinson (Clinical Services Manager, Targeted Children s Services) and Clare Guerreiro (Occupa onal Health Business Manager) Here are a few words that sum Alison up inspira onal and innova ve, passionate and hardworking, caring and suppor ve, effec ve and organised, clear thinking and going the extra mile. Clare is extremely personable and the whole team totally respect and support her. This is due to her approach to inclusive and shared leadership. She is totally dedicated as a leader within the Trust.
Life me Achievement Paul Cooper (Estates Advisor) During his 40 years working for the NHS he has enabled literally millions of people to access our buildings, to use our facili es, to receive care and support, and enabling our staff to deliver those services, all in safe, comfortable, clean and efficient surroundings. Improving Pa ents Experience Award (2 awards) Tier 3 CAMHS Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire and Helen Craddock and Amanda Jones (Health Visitors) They have listened to and responded to feedback from service users and despite the increase in complexity and demand are keeping posi ve and engaged with finding new ways to always improve how people experience their service. Helen and Amanda set up a post natal support group called Journey into Motherhood, which explores the experiences and feelings of new mothers over a six week period. Alastair Neale, Maureen Chapel and Ka e Lawrence (Tier 3 CAMHS) receive their Award from Trust Pa ent and Carer Panel members Chris Goodwin and Millie Smith
Unsung Hero Award Rachel Stringfellow (Office Manager/PA for the Paediatric Psychology Service at Monkmoor) and Tom Knight (Porter/Records Assistant at Coral House) Rachel has a well deserved reputa on across services for being incredibly efficient, whilst also being unfailingly helpful and welcoming. She takes her job very seriously and a real pride in everything she does. I don t think Tom knows how important he is in terms of how his work enables us to do our job well and how his personality and his kindnesses makes our days brighter. Working in Partnership Award Community Neuro Rehabilita on Team Rachel Stringfellow receives her Award from Trust Director of Nursing and Opera ons, Steve Gregory, and Tracy Wilson, Carer Representa ve Partnership working is one of the team s core values and part of everyday prac ce. The pa ents seen o en have very complex needs which require an integrated and collabora ve approach. Charlo e Bowker and Dr Emma Lawrence (Community Neuro Rehab Team) receive their Award from Linda Izquierdo (Shropshire CCG) and Alison Smith (T&W CCG) HIGHLY COMMENDED: CAMHS Tier 2, Telford and Wrekin.
Effec veness Award Early Years Children s Physiotherapy Team This team was faced with the need to make changes to their service which seemed a real challenge. However, they responded by working closely with colleagues to devise a new way of working which has in fact proved to be very effec ve, with real benefits for children, families and staff, with shorter waits and more effec ve prac ce. Dr Ganesh, Medical Director, presents the Award to the Early Years Physiotherapy Team Also making the roll of honour on the day were a number of staff who received Long Service and Educa on Awards. Long Service Awards: Debbie Bun ng, Lynn Davies, Julie e Griffiths, Margaret Johnson, Carole Morton, Dianne Owens, Caroline Podmore, Jane Sullivan, Stephen Wear and Lisa Wills. Educa on Awards: Kirsten Ellmore, Ros Jagoe, Jayne Beasley, (Elizabeth) Louise Gregory, Nicola Jones, Marrieanne Brown, Sara Barre, Amber Burgess Game, Jemma Brown, Emma Miller, Hayley Davies, Alice Cloak, Helen Bache, Amanda Moss, Helen Bouillet, Wendy Hayeck, Kimberley Jane Rochelle, Nicola Collins, Margot McCrone, Angharad Hanaghan, Jo Be son, Jenny Young, Rachel Foske, Jody Henrywood, Deborah Houston Peace, Chris ne Wilkins and Sarah Gray. Unfortunately not everyone who won an award was able to make it to the award ceremony, but we will make sure they get their trophy and cer ficate. Also, we were unable to include pictures of everyone who received either an award or cer ficate in this newsle er, but we will be making sure they receive personal copies of their photographs that were taken on the day (all of which were taken by Alan Ferguson, Records Manager and Quality Facilitator). Once again we would like to thank everyone who helped make the Celebra ng Success and Staff Awards 2014 such a huge success. Thank You
