1 WEST PASCO/Tarpon Springs 0777 NEWSLETTER A.A. Hotline AL-Anon Hotline May 205 Step 5: Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. It took me a long time to get to this step: Eighteen months after going to AA meetings, through pain and misery without alcohol, I finally decided to live. Living meant getting a sponsor and surrendering to the process of The Steps. I surrendered, came to believe and prayed for the willingness to turn my life over to the care of God. It wasn t easy, and I had to make-believe until I could believe. I finally, with the help of my sponsor and my new acceptance of God, was ready to make a searching and fearless moral inventory of myself. Talk about ego deflation! It was terribly painful to do an inventory of myself, and now they want me to admit all this to an other human being? I knew that God knew all about me, but to share it with someone? I had always presented the picture of myself to people as stark raving fine. I finally was ready and wanted to dive into Step Five. My sponsor was out of town, but I was ready. I couldn t wait. With my old self will, I asked my spiritual advisor (a man) to let me share my inventory with him. I couldn t wait for my female sponsor. Mind you, I had been told that my sponsor should be a woman and I should share Step Five with her.. I did it my way. You see, I was ready! The man who heard my inventory turned out to be a master of Thirteen Stepping. What had I done? So much for my spiritual advisor. A hard lesson learned! My sponsor returned, and I had to admit my self-will lesson. I shared my Fifth Step. She shared some of hers. It was wonderfully freeing. My life s isolation began to disappear. I began to understand that I could belong to the human family. I found out that I could become someone I loved. Self-loathing went away. I could be forgiven and work on my character defects. Humility was no longer a bad word. I could become honest. I could become honest with myself and God. I could live. Donna W. Tradition 5: Each Group has but one primary purpose to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers. Each member of Alcoholics Anonymous is but a small part of a GREAT whole. A.A. must continue to live or most of us will surely die. Hence our common welfare comes first but individual welfare follows close Afterwards Please Support your Central Office hotline staff for: 2 shifts daily Mon.-Fri. 0 AM :0 PM or :0 PM 5 PM Contact Central Office for more information (727) Table of Contents Birthday Club 2 Anniversaries Intergroup Info Calendar of Events 5 Contributions
