On my last day of drinking, and other substances, there was only one way out (I thought); I tried to commit suicide. I always believed in God, and that was it, fox hole prayers (only when in trouble). When I woke up the first thing I noticed was the presence of my Higher Power God. I have never felt this before, God was doing for me what I could not do for myself. I surrendered that day January 1, I came to believe that a Power greater than myself could restore me to sanity. Today I have a relationship with my Higher Power, whom I chose to call God. Since that day I have not had to pick up a drink, all due to the fellowship of A.A., the twelve steps and traditions and my Higher Power: God. God Bless. Jay D. The temporary contact program is an A.A. member who helps an alcoholic patient "Bridge The Gap" between the treatment facility and "Outside" A.A. meetings. Assisting the newcomer aids the contacts own sobriety, and helps introduce the newcomer to an A.A. meeting near the newcomers home.
