1 THE WORKPAPERS IIA Tulsa Chapter Newsletter July 2017 Cathy Criswell President President s Message You will see included in the board priorities listed on page 3, one about thought leadership. I have always been impressed with the cutting-edge practices our members have adopted, and their willingness to share with our chapter. I have become a better auditor by learning from you. One of my goals is make you aware of how you can share with our profession. The IIA makes In This Issue President s Message IIA News & Highlights Events Calendar Tulsa Chapter Officers, Committee Chairs, and Governors several avenues available for sharing, including writing articles, presenting through Audit Channel TV, speaking at conferences or meetings and through the Audit Executive Center. Sharing information helps our profession develop, as well as getting recognition for Tulsa as progressive city. You will be hearing more about this. The board members and committees are planning activities. We want to hear what you want us to provide. Please take a minute right now to send me a suggestion. The board is meeting on July 13 and I would love to have some feedback to share. Here is my address: I am look forward to hearing your ideas. cathycriswell@cityoftulsa.org Cathy Criswell, Chapter President Planning for our chapter year takes place during the summer months (June August) and we will be actively recruiting members to assist with various committees. 3 IIA News & Highlights Summary of Planning Activities The Board of Governors discussed priorities for this chapter year (June, 1, 2017 May 31, 2018) at the June board meeting. Following is a list of the items identified so far. Education - Offer high quality continuing education to our chapter members. Community Outreach Provide opportunities for members to participate in activities that benefit the community and the profession Thought leadership - Lead an awareness campaign to inform members of ways they can contribute Member Participation Maximize member participation at all chapter events The board will work on goals again at our July meeting, as well as the following discussion topics: Decide on key performance indicators and which officers and committee chairs are responsible for them Discuss chapter meeting and educational offerings location, timing, topics, etc. Member survey format, questions, distribution method, etc. Chapter Achievement Program (CAP) Your activities help our members and the internal auditing profession. The Chapter can report these activities to IIA headquarters to earn points in the Chapter Achievement Program (CAP). Tulsa has always been one of the best chapters in the world, recognized by earning the Gold award each year. This is the highest award available. Because Tulsa has earned the Gold award for 10 years, our chapter is honored with the Sapphire award. Here are just a few examples of the activities that earn CAP points: Speaking engagements inside or outside your organization Receive a quality assessment for your audit shop Participate in a quality review team (IIA and non-iia sponsored) Write articles for Internal Audit magazine or other publications Volunteer with Junior Achievement and many more activities Please report your activities to cathycriswell@cityofulsa.org to help us earn points to continue our tradition of excellence.
