It meets every four years to consider the hundreds of petitions proposing changes to our Book of Discipline, and a variety of possible resolutions to be adopted by our denomination. We need to pray for divine guidance for these delegates; and for their edication, deliberation, discernment, and decisions.
2 2 May 2016 E.S.O.L. (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Tutors are needed for our ESOL classes on Tuesdays (10am Noon) and Wednesdays (7:30 9pm). Classes are held in the LEC Room 2C. No need to speak another language, just need to be willing to help others learn! Call Cris Wolfe for details (727) Experience the Power of Prayer! Goodwin Chapel Prayer Time Tuesdays 7:30pm 8:00pm Wednesdays 7:30am 8:00am PCCUMC Volunteers Participate in 2016 Habitat for Humanity Faith Build Saturday, April 16, was a fun-filled day for PCCUMC volunteers who participated in the 2016 Habitat for Humanity Faith Build. We did interior and exterior painting and attached stone facing to the two pillars on the front porch of the new home for Brittany Smith and her son Ladarios in Pinellas Park. Volunteers represented PCCUMC as we worked together to share God s love in action. In the words of Habitat, we provided a hands up for a wonderful family, not a hand out.
3 Children's Ministry From Angie Hadley, Director Club 45 meets on the first Friday of the month. Whether we are going off campus or not, we always have a fun night of fellowship. Our first lock-in was so successful we did it again this year (photo). The children started out going to Jump Zone for two hours of bouncing and then we headed back to the church for some hide-n-seek in the dark. It was such an awesome time for all of us. Vacation Bible School is just around the corner June 20-24, from 6:00 8:30pm. We ll have a celebration on Singing in Church on Sunday and picnic afterwards. If you pre-register cost is $10, at the door it will be $15. The registration form is online at As always, to make this a successful event, we need volunteers. If you are interested in helping out in this fun-filled week, Angie Hadley at angieh@pccumc.org. 6 The SPOTLIGHT is shining brightly this month on the PCC Thrift Mall. The Mall is an Outreach Ministry of the United Methodist Women. It has served our community for 30 years. The Thrift Store began in part of the Garage Building which is attached to the McCormick (School) Building. Donations of clothing, house wares and all sorts of merchandise began to fill up the room. As sales increased more space was needed. Two more rooms attached to the Garage became available. ROOM 1 = clothing, shoes, jewelry ROOM 2 = THE BOUTIQUE for china, dishes, toys ROOM 3 = furniture, house wares, electronics Thus the buildings became THE PASADENA THRIFT MALL. All of the work is done by dedicated men and women, volunteers who give endless hours of time to this Ministry under the capable From Rose Oeschger and untiring direction of Frances Eorgan, Pat Johns and Linda Druckenbrod. Frances has given 30 years of Volunteer Service, Pat 10 years and Linda 10 years. They have helped many who are homeless by giving them clothing to prepare them for the job market. They also donate items, when available, to low income people to help them set up housekeeping. All income received from the sales is divided and half is given for the Church Budget and half is used for the work of the United Methodist Women Missions. Have some spare time? Volunteers are needed at the Thrift Mall in Rooms 2 & 3: clean merchandise, stock new arrivals, cashier and assist as needed. The Mall is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. Contact V Brunson at if you feel God is calling you to serve as a Volunteer in this great Ministry. Praises 7 Preschool Field Day 2016 From Gino Coté, Director On April 15, the children from our preschool participated in their annual school-wide Field Day. Each class had a chance to display their various talents and spirit of teamwork as they engaged in different activities and games that were created throughout the campus. We started the day with some fun movement and praise songs on the campus main court to get our bodies and brains ready for the events. Then the children were encouraged to work together in sack relays, scooter races and obstacle courses. They displayed and practiced their large motor skills, critical thinking and problem solving competencies as well as nonstop energy and enthusiasm. Not only were we blessed with a lovely day and cool weather, but we also had many families and community members come out to help with the games and activities and to cheer our little athletes on. Volunteer Opportunity For individuals and families looking to encourage and get to know residents of Sandpiper Assisted Living Facility. For details, contact Lennie Wells Phone: (727) lennie47@gmail.com
