3 11/3/18-49'ers th St N (Pinellas Park) Southland Plaza Walter "SD8/27/16. The solution is in the Big Book. I was a sick person who needed to get well, not a bad person needing to be good. Service work is #1, wouldn't be sober without it-the key to my sobriety." Tim "SD10/15/10. The people of AA helped me, my sponsor & the 49'ers. Good things happen to people who stay sober & good things happen to people who work the steps." 11/10/18-What's Your Motive 8pm Palm Lake nd Ave North (St. Pete) Steve "SD9/1/13. Step 4; you get to fill out a form & it's completely self indulging & all you gotta make sure of is being honest with myself & if I wanna blame others, then I do a Step 4." Muriel "SD4/19/64. I was the last one in & the 1st one out & for quite a while I did not relate, I compared & I held on to my old ideas for several years; moved to FL & it was the same people w/ different faces & same unconditional love; (I was an angry woman; everything was happening to me, not healthy physically, had no spirituality) I got a sponsor & the journey has been amazing & I've dealt w/ death, divorce...haven't needed to pick up a drink." 11/17/18-Attitude (Monday thru Saturday)Grace 1812 N. Highland Ave, Clearwater Kevin "SD2/4/04. Since I got involved here, participating in my own recovery, got a no-nonsense sponsor & he gave me a Where & When & circled the meetings he went to & said 'if you want to talk, just be there.' I would get off work at 6am, & he said 'there are 7am meetings.' Out of all the problems, he found all the answers in the Big Book & that was the best thing that ever happened to me." Tom "SD6/2/93. Alcohol had isolated me. I'd drive 50 miles to an AA mtg. Everybody knew I was alcoholic, but I was too scared to go to a meeting. The people of AA got me sober & I've never been drunk on a day I went to a meeting." 11/24/ th Ave N, St Pete 3 Tony "SD4/1991. It's because of the program of A.A. that we learn how to have relationships; I continue to move forward taking suggestions from sponsor & sponsoring & taking commitments for my group & I continue learning in my recovery how to grow from a seemingly hopeless condition..." Patti "SD12/23/81. In case you smoke weed, you are not sober. It's not the substance that's the problem, it's the person-me; After I did that 3rd step, women started asking me to sponsor them & all my energy was to pass on what I had learned & I started saving women & they started saving me. When death took 3 people I was close to, I threw myself even more into AA. I realized secret to AA-trying to help another person" -Your Grateful Plain & Straight Reporters, Karen & Jodi SERENITY CLUB 631 TURNER STREET CLEARWATER 33756

(Metaphorically enormous. Missy wants to make it clear that Jen s feet appear perfectly proportioned to the rest of her body.) Jen s service to all of us has been boundless, she says. She s shaped the Plain and Straight into a mobile carrier of the message and I look forward to continuing that vision. Missy had four years in the program, having pickled up a white chip on August 14, 2013, which she keeps in a wine glass with subsequent chips to remind her of where she came from and where she could return if she s not spiritually vigilant. Missy's home group is Together We Can in North Pinellas. And, she has served as its Intergroup rep for the past two years. Her favorite part of the Big Book is 5 PI/CPC LAST MONDAY 6PM 1/28/ Ulmerton Rd #220 TREATMENT LAST SATURDAY 10AM 1/26/19 DeGeorge Plaza Starkey Rd., Largo WEBSITE 3RD SATURDAY 10AM 1/19/ Ulmerton Rd #220 For More Information on these Committees, go to: District1aapinellas.org We admitted we were powerless over alcohol, and our lives had become unmanageable. She explains why. For me, this applies to so much more than alcohol. I ve put down the drink. But the unhealthy habits are still there. The defect my sponsor identified my first time through the steps, was my need to control. And I ve been tussling with it ever since. Sometimes I don t even know I m even trying to do it. This passage reminds me that I m powerless over everything, which is such a release. I m reminded that all I have to do is show up and let my Higher Power handle the rest. When I align my life to that fact, life is manageable because I am not in charge. So, I m at peace no matter what else is happening around me. She intends to bring this mindset into her new position as editor and looks forward to being of maximum service to AA Pinellas and its Plain and Straight readers. The Plain and Straight is in good hands! Thank you for letting me be of service as Editor over the years. With Love and Gratitude, Jen B.
