Tradition Six ~ An A.A. group ought never endorse, finance or lend the A.A. name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property and prestige divert us from our primary purpose." Concept VI ~ On behalf of A.A. as a whole, our General Service Conference has the principle responsibility for the maintenance of our world services, and it traditionally has the final decision respecting large matters of general policy and finance. But the Conference also recognizes that the chief initiative and the active responsibility in most of these matters should be exercised primarily by the Trustee members of the Conference when they act among themselves as the General Service Board of Alcoholics Anonymous. Need a service commitment? How about 12th step calls? Go through Central Office...safely and soberly.. Read more on Page SIX of This issue! 4 UPCOMING EVENTS Florida State 57th ConventioN WED - SUN JULY 24TH - 28TH, 2013 Program & Activities Speakers from Around the Country: Including Sandy B. from Tampa JACKSONVILLE, FL GO TO : for more info Chairwoman s Remarks: Happy Birthday AA! June, the month designated as the birth of Alcoholics Anonymous, a huge reason to celebrate and remember our Founders with much gratitude. I also want to thank all the Intergroup Reps for being so supportive of our Central Office Manager, Committee Chairs, and Officers of Intergroup. We really appreciate your time and contributions at each Intergroup meeting during the last five months. The Six Tradition is deemed so important that it states at length the relation of the AA movement to money and property. Language of the Heart Pg 83. I am not going to quote the entire long form of Tradition Six, but rather stress the following idea that Bill writes in Language of the Heart, pg.83, This Tradition declares in substance that the accumulation of money, property, and the unwanted personal authority so often generated by material wealth comprise a cluster of serious hazards against which an AA group must ever be on guard. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help others achieve sobriety. So often pride and ego become engaged and heightened when money, property and prestige are placed in a position of importance, and divert us from a spiritual way of living. Therefore, Alcoholics Anonymous Groups must keep their finances simple, poor and uncomplicated.
