Olympic Educational Service District National Avenue North, Bremerton, WA :30 p.m. WELCOME & INTRODUCTIONS 4:35 p.m. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES/AMENDMENTS TO THE AGENDA The September 2018 Minutes and the 2018 Annual Planning Session Summary as well as changes to the agenda will be approved. 4:40 p.m. YOUTH REPRESENTATIVE REPORT Youth Representatives on the Commission will have an opportunity to update the Commission on youth issues and activities in their community. 4:50 p.m PRIORITIES AND GOAL SETTING Priorities set during the Annual Planning Session will be reviewed, modifications made, and 2019 priorities will be set. 5:30 p.m. MEETING STRUCTURE, MONTHLY THEMES Meeting structure and monthly themes will be decided. 5:30 p.m. MEMBERSHIP/ENGAGEMENT Laura will update the board on membership status and open positions. Jessica will share the draft membership handbook. 5:45 p.m. ANNOUNCEMENTS/PUBLIC COMMENT (2-minute limit per individual) 5:55 p.m. ADJOURNMENT & NEXT MEETING Next meeting to be held 12/6/18 6:00 p.m. PROJECT TEAM MEETINGS AND NEXT STEPS Project teams will meet and set goals and next steps
3 Kitsap County Commission on Children and Youth MINUTES September 6, 2018 The Kitsap County Commission on Children and Youth meeting was held on Thursday, September 6, :30 p.m. at Olympic Educational Service District 114 in Bremerton. Jill Brenner, the Board Chairperson facilitated this meeting and called the meeting to order. I. INTRODUCTIONS Jill asked members and guests for self-introductions. II. III. IV. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES/AMENDMENTS TO THE AGENDA The July and August meetings were cancelled. The Youth Commission s June meeting minutes were reviewed and approved. Announcements were moved up on the June Agenda due to several staff members who had to leave early. YOUTH REPRESENTATIVE REPORT Youth Commissioners offered their insights as to youth activities and concerns for this month. FUNDING UPDATE Laura provided a report regarding 2019 budget request, contract status and services. V. PROGRAM UPDATES Youth Commission members offered updates regarding the programs and services offered for the school year. VI. VII. IX. PLANNING THE OCTOBER RETREAT A draft agenda was prepared for the October retreat (Annual Planning Session) which will happen on October 8, ANNOUNCEMENTS/PUBLIC COMMENT Much information regarding the successes of summer programs/activities and the upcoming school year activities were shared. ADJOURNMENT The October meeting is to be cancelled as we will be running the Annual Planning Session on October 8, September 2018 Minutes Page 1 of 2

5 Prevention Survey 2018 The North Kitsap and Bremerton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalitions would like to invite you to participate in this survey. The survey is about concerns regarding substance abuse among youth. The goal is to assess attitudes, beliefs, and practices related to youth substance use and behavioral health in our community. The completed surveys will be utilized to guide our work to develop effective substance abuse prevention programs for our community. The First Responder Crisis Kit is a flexible tool that can be used briefly - just during the initial crisis - or carried with the individual through interactions with the hospital, law enforcement, and emergency shelters~ Discussion will Include: ~Triggers ~Emergency Names and Numbers ~Baseline Behaviors ~Coping Strategies ~City of Poulsbo Behavioral Health Navigators will be on hand to assist with crisis kits and provide materials. Navigators work with police throughout the county to better respond to individuals with behavioral health issues and Developmental Disabilities~ ~RSVPs are appreciated, but Walk-ins and Children are always welcome!
