4 From: Richard Sierra Sent: Tuesday, October 18, :21 PM To: Subject: RE: Bx DPHO 8th Annual Health Summit Event - Tuesday, November 1, 2011 Good Afternoon, Hope all are doing well. As you know we host every year our health summit event for the Community Board Districts in our catchment area. This year our theme is Adolescent Health. We have invited many CBOs and FBOs that work with youth and/or provide services in your community district. It is very important to network with these organizations in your community especially around youth services and possible collaborations to address teen health in the community. Please RSVP using the survey monkey link. Please see below invitation letter from our Assistant Commissioner of the Bronx District Public Health Office, Dr. Jane Bedell. The Bronx District Public Health Office of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, in our efforts to engage the community in health planning and partner with key stakeholders to address the needs of neighborhoods burdened by poor health, will host the 8 th Annual Health Summit on November 1, For the last seven years, the Bronx DPHO in partnership with Communities Board 1 through 6 has identified local health issues, developed innovative public health programs, and supported Community Board events aligned with our mission to improve health, reduce health disparities, and increase equity among the South Bronx neighborhoods we serve. This year our theme will be Adolescent Health. As a result, aside from inviting community board members, we will open up the process by also inviting other stakeholders that work with adolescents such as community based organizations, faith based institutions, schools, and other residents in the South Bronx. We are excited and look forward to continuing our efforts in helping to decrease health disparities in young people as they gain competence to lead productive lives. The 8th Annual Health Summit will be held at: Jewish Child Care Association Office 555 Bergen Avenue, 4 th Floor Bronx, New York November 1 st, 2011 Time: 5:45 pm - 7:45 pm This is an important opportunity to work collaboratively with other organizations that share the same goal of improving community health. We welcome this opportunity to meet and work together.
5 Therefore, please join us on November 1 st for an exciting and engaging meeting! To RSVP please use the survey monkey link to confirm your attendance and to provide us with some information regarding the important work that you and your organization perform. If unable to use the survey monkey please call Vivian McKay at (718) or her at vvandive@health.nyc.gov to RSVP.
