1 Rally On! The Red Nose Rally Handbook Red Nose Day is a fundraising campaign run by the non-profit organization Comic Relief Inc., a registered U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity. Let s come together to end child poverty, one nose at a time.

2 Get Ready to Rally with Noses On! Why hold a Red Nose Rally at school? Because Red Nose Day is all about coming together to end child poverty. A Red Nose Rally is a terrific way to raise awareness and money for children who need our help the most - while having fun. Bring your students together for a learning and fundraising assembly for a good cause: children helping other children. You can involve the whole school, or even a classroom. No Rally is too big or too small. The best time to hold a Rally is on or before May 24th, Red Nose Day. Noses are on sale at Walgreens starting April 2nd. Proceeds from the sale of each Red Nose is a donation to the charity which supports programs that help keep children safe, healthy, and educated across America and around the world. If you can put on a Red Nose, you can put on a Red Nose Rally. Use this Red Nose Rally Handbook to plan your event Buy your official Red Noses at Walgreens or in bulk on Walgreens.com (some schools may ask parents to purchase a Red Nose for their child) Ask everyone to dress in red on Rally day consider making it a fundraiser where students donate to wear red from nose to toes You could also start a fundraiser before your Rally and celebrate the superstars who raised the most funds (read on for more ideas!) 3 Red Nose Rally Roadmap Have fun. Help children in need. Every Red Nose Rally is diff erent. Here s what a 40-minute assembly can look like at your school. 1. Kick-Off : 5 minutes Lively intro from your school s Principal or favorite teacher to set the stage about why you re all coming together Play the Red Nose Day Highlight Video 2. Learn: 15 minutes Help students understand the issue of child poverty around the world, and inspire them to make a difference: Play some of the short, educational videos from RedNoseDayinSchool.org, and ask your students to reflect on what they ve learned Discuss the causes and impact of poverty on children including the number of children affected nearby and around the world Invite a guest speaker from your school or community to tell a brief personal story and share how they have been helped Add an interactive game or Q&A so kids can show off what they ve learned 3. Fun-Raise: 15 minutes Did you fundraise before the Rally? Celebrate the fundraising you ve done, announce fundraising challenge winners or spotlight some superstar student fundraisers Teachers, let the students challenge you to do something funny, raise a few dollars and raise some laughs for a good cause End the day on a high note! How about a dance-off, lip-sync battle or joke contest? 4. 4 Add More Pep to Your Rally Get inspired by fundraising ideas for kids of all ages. Nose To Nose Two Noses are better than one. Purchase two Red Noses from Walgreens, find a friend, and take a video or picture going Nose to Nose. Then challenge two more friends, and make a donation at RedNoseDay.org. Bake Sale What s delicious, easy as pie and takes the cake when it comes to doing a great fundraiser? Bake sales are the ultimate crowd-pleaser. Get into the theme and go crazy with red sprinkles and icing. Think of it as calories for a cause. Did someone say red velvet? Small Change Your small change can mean big changes for children in need. Check your pockets, couch cushions and everywhere else for spare change. Get your classmates involved, too. Put an empty jar in your classroom and challenge everyone (including your teacher) to fill it up. Make it a school-wide competition! See which grade can collect the most coins. Dress All In Red Ask everyone in your class (heck, why not your whole school?!) to dress in red from nose to toes for a day, and ask everyone to donate $1 to participate. Turning the Table on Teachers (for a good cause) Kids raise money to give their teacher a blindfold-makeover, pie the Principal in the face or make the coach wear the jersey of their least favorite sports team for a day. Joke Contest Kids pay $1 to submit their favorite joke to a panel of faculty judges. Finalists will be invited to test their stand-up comedy skills at the Rally. Whoever gets the biggest laughs wins! Lip Sync Battle or Dance-Off Ask students or teachers to show their stuff on stage in a Lip Sync Battle or Dance-off contest (with their Noses On, of course). Red Nose Day is all about coming together and making it fun to make a difference. Our school is joining schools around the country in raising awareness and money to help children who live in poverty, and it s working. In just three years, Red Nose Day has raised over $100 million and impacted the lives of 8.3 million children across all 50 states and Puerto Rico and around the world. By participating in Red Nose Day, we are teaching our students about the issues of poverty, the importance of fostering empathy, and empowering them to use their voice to drive positive change in the world around them all of course, while having a great time.
