1 Service Opportunities are Readily Available The Chelsea at Montville Assisted Living Residence 165 Changebridge Road Montville, NJ Contact: Activities Director, Ext The Chelsea at Montville is an assisted living facility for seniors that provide different care levels to meet various needs. Please identify yourself as a St. Pius X Confirmation candidate, parent or volunteer. Volunteer opportunities for students include: Playing Bingo and board games with a senior group Assisting with Arts and Craft projects Providing entertainment such as, playing an instrument or singing Creative ideas from students are welcome The Boys and Girls Club of Pequannock 19 Oak Avenue Pequannock, NJ Contact: Danielle Altman (Unit Director) Neighborhood based youth development organization dedicated to providing educational, social, athletic and cultural programs to youth of all backgrounds and to assist them in reaching their full potential and becoming productive citizens. Volunteer opportunities for students include: Homework assistance tutor Assistance with mailings Referee for children s basketball games Smart Moves Drug and Alcohol program peer leaders needed for prevention workshops

Homeless Solutions Ridgedale Avenue Morristown, NJ Contact: Kurt Kilanowski Ext. 110 or youth-ministry@st-pius-x.org (Must sign up ahead of time.) This service opportunity allows our young people to serve dinner to residents of the shelter. Dinner is donated and prepared by adult members of our Parish during the early part of the day. Students often stock the food pantry in addition to serving dinner. Volunteers must sign up ahead of time, and adult drivers are always needed. This service opportunity requires that members of Youth Ministry set up and serve dinner for those with AIDS and HIV. Young people leave Montville around 4:30 PM, after picking up dinner donated by our parishioners at Joe s Pizzeria. Return time is approximately 6:30 PM. Volunteers must sign up ahead of time, and adult drivers are always needed.

6 Religious Formation Religious Formation Classes Contact: Peter O Brien Ext. 109 Students are needed to assist teachers in our Sunday morning elementary and middle school religious formation classes and our Monday evening middle school religious formation classes. Classes meet every other week and assistants are expected to attend all classes. Please contact the Religious Formation office to obtain a sign-up form. (Each year of assisting counts as 2 services.) Religious Formation Office Help Religious Formation Contact: Maryann Halleran Ext. 103 From time to time, the Religious Formation staff needs help with a project: stuffing envelopes, putting together booklets and folders, organizing teacher supplies, mailings, etc. Please contact Maryann at the Ministry House to volunteer. High School Ensemble Music Ministry Contact: Ext. 114 High School students are needed to play and sing in the High School Ensemble. Please contact Paul Carroll at the Ministry House or pcarroll@st-piusx.org. Contact: Kim Bott, Towaco Civic Association High School students are needed at different times of the year for volunteer work in Towaco. Please contact Kim Bott to volunteer.
7 Pathways For Exceptional Children Mentoring Program or Contact: Tracey Hanna Recreation Programs run for specific time periods (usually 4-6 weeks) requiring a commitment for once or twice a week during that time. New programs are started all the time. Mentoring for these programs is on an asneeded basis and mentors may not always be assigned to the same child each week. This program is a good option for mentors who want to be involved in particular activities. Life Skills Programs usually run once a month. These programs include a field trip designed to assist special needs children in learning daily living skills. These programs will have special needs parents, PEC representatives, or other parent/montville Township Recreation employed chaperones. The Challenger League comes to Montville for a baseball game once a year. The Challenger League has six baseball teams with over 120 disabled children from all over Morris County. Big Brother/Big Sister - There are many special children in our community who would love to spend time with you! In this one-on-one program, you visit the home of a special needs child for a play date, to be a mother s helper or a homework buddy. The parent of that child is always on hand to supervise and train you in what to do for their child.
