2 What We Do Help commuters find their home at Hofstra! Support commuter students academically and socially. Advocate for our Commuter Pride. Engage students through a variety of social, educational, and career oriented programs. Educate commuters about the services and resources available to them at Hofstra. Promote civic engagement through community service opportunities. Assist students in learning how to live safely, successfully, and independently in the communities that surround the University.

4 Commuter Mentor Program Each commuter student is assigned a Commuter Mentor for their first year! Commuter Mentors Help students transition to life at Hofstra by Severe as a knowledgeable resource Encourage students to get involved on campus Foster genuine connections
5 Hofstra Commuter Student Association (HCSA) HCSA represents and advocates for commuters Host campus wide events Encourage commuters to get involved Weekly meetings: Wednesdays at 11:15am-12:30pm in Brower Hall, Room 106.
6 Services for Commuter Students Commuter Meal Plan Commuter Parking Pass Free Lockers Free Shuttle Service to and from train stations, shopping malls, and more! Access to ALL University facilities and services such as Career Center Writing Center Interfaith Center Student Health and Counseling Center Center for Academic Excellence Campus Recreation
7 Commuter Lounges 20 Lounges throughout the campus for students to relax, study, work on assignments, and meet fellow students!
8 Large Scale Community Outreach Programs Our students give back and connect with our Hempstead and Uniondale communities! Shake-A-Rake: Rake leaves for residents of the community. Pride, Paint, and Plant: Beautify the community by planting flowers and painting fences. Snow Angels: Shoveling snow for local community members in need.
9 Fall Monthly Community Outreach Programs Students volunteer at local non-profit organizations! Community Solidarity (Food Share): Distribute fresh produce, groceries, hot meals, clothing, and more to the community Mary Brennan INN (Soup Kitchen): Sort through clothing donations Stock the food pantry Hot meal to those in need MOMMA S House (Housing for young mothers and their babies): Paint MOMMA S House Ronald McDonald House (Housing for families with children receiving medical treatment): Bake sweet treats
