We would like to invite the community to stop in and meet our staff, volunteers, and board members, and take a tour of our facility. Manager of Client Services, Ruth Fishter, and Manager of Social Services & Special Projects, Sara Curtis would like to take this opportunity to introduce our new Director of Operations, Joe Szeker, our new Bookkeeper, Linda Castella, and our Intake Specialists, Joyce Varns and Kelly Wade. Staff members will be giving tours of the facility to showcase what we have been working on and how we are accomplishing those goals. Our board members and volunteers will also be present and happy to chat with you about the programs we are working on. Light refreshments will be served throughout the evening. During the reception, staff will highlight how our food pantry works, how we receive and store the food we distribute, how our clothing room works and how we process donations, and how and where the Christmas Toy Project magic takes place. We will also be discussing our special projects-back To School, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Toy Project, as well as the new client events that we have been developing. We are excited to welcome the community into PTPM to share all that we have been working on over the last few months and look forward to seeing (or meeting) you! I would say the first thing that comes to mind is how thankful I am that GOD has allowed me the blessing of being able to not only serve with the staff and all the volunteers at People to People, but to serve my community. I came to Ohio from the same state as Charlie and Sara, New Jersey the Garden State. I grew up in the small rural town of Crosswicks, a George Washington slept here place of history, where I learned much about and became interested in our nation s history. My work background is varied but has set me up well for the position I am honored and humbled to fill. I started my working life as Federal technician (DOD employee) working as a production controller of aircraft maintenance for the 108 th fighter squadron at McGuire AFB. The more interesting part of this position was that part of my job was to teach the various job duties to the part time guardsman of our unit, a job I seemed to like. It was early in my life that I learned that in order to be a good teacher I would need to understand how best to communicate and help people to learn in short periods of time when many other activities were required of them. I moved to Ohio in 1990 and was able to continue the opportunity to teach and help people by serving on several nonprofit boards and in workshops. My positions included production and operations manager which allowed me to work a long side of folks with various physical and mental life challenges. These positions were personally rewarding but more important were the lessons I learned and the experience gained working with and for people. GOD had been setting me up all along for what I now see as the People To People Ministries opportunity that is before me. I have also served in church settings as a youth worker and teacher, and I currently serve in one of our churches adult midweek classes as a teacher, again having both the blessing of teaching and growing together with the folks I serve there. If you have not seen the pattern developing throughout my life I will help you out: - I LOVE TO SERVE GOD and HIS people!! In all I have done in my life, both the positive and negative lessons learned, have led me to the place of understanding that it is not until I LEARNED that life and the abilities that were given to me by our maker were to Glorify HIM and be used to help PEOPLE. My vision of the People to People Ministries in Wooster Ohio is to re-establish our commitment to serve the people of Wayne County with respect and dignity and to Glorify GOD in doing this. Special Thanks to Paramount Insurance for sponsoring the purchase of tissues and disinfectant wipes for all the participants of the Back To School Project. PTPM is very excited to be working with you on this year s project. On Saturday, June 24, 2017, staff and volunteers headed to Akron to volunteer at the Akron Canton Regional Foodbank. During their shift they worked with 36 other people to repackage meat from bulk containers into 30lb boxes. In their 3 hour shift, they repacked 18,510 POUNDS of meat; this will break down into 15,425 meals. PTPM Hosts Mission Group On Monday, June 12 and Wednesday, June 14, 2017 PTPM hosted a group from Trinity United Church of Christ North Street Mission. The group was from Chesterland, OH and was made up of 5 kids and 3 adults. They were able to spend a total of six and a half hours with us at PTPM. During that time, they worked on sorting clothes for the upcoming Back To School Project. They ensured that items were in excellent condition and current in style, and then packed the items in boxes that will be taken to the project.
