Run and operated by local people, they are providing services that they know are relevant. To find out more about how local charities are being celebrated on 15th December, follow the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) blog or search for vacancies in your area using Local organisations have a variety of vacancies and some are looking for trustees. This is the end of Trustees Week 2017 (13-7 November) and the Trustees Week website has a number of trustee stories which may be of interest if you are considering this type of role. Visitor experience volunteers help everyone to get the most from their time at Bedgebury and play a key role in meeting visitors, helping them with their queries, giving them directions and advice. 5 Headway West Kent Need Trustees We are seeking trustees to join the Headway West Kent management board. As a trustee you will share responsibility, with the rest of the Board, for the overall management and strategic direction of the organisation. The day-to-day management is the responsibility of the Chief Executive. Our need is for people with a wide range of management skills but experience of business, marketing or human relations management would be particularly welcome. We are very keen to welcome a trustee with experience as a carer of someone who has acquired a brain injury. The Board meets on the third Monday evening of every second or third month. Trustees must be willing to meet more regularly should the necessity arise. Many trustees take on extra responsibilities and there may be opportunities for those who wish to do likewise. 6 TREASURER REQUIRED Gardening for Disabled Trust is a small national charity and exists to help people continue to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of gardening, despite disability. Over 50 years we have helped many thousands of people with disabilities of all kinds to take some pleasure from being outside and gardening. We help with raised beds, planters, paving and steps to make gardens accessible. We are looking for a Treasurer to attend monthly meetings, about 3 annual fundraising events and to keep the day-to-day accounts. The day-to-day accounts take no more than an hour a week and are audited by an accountant then Report and Accounts are produced and circulated. The meetings are in the Kent/East Sussex area of Tunbridge Wells at one of the committee s houses and it is essential to be able to drive. Are you passionate about helping homeless people in your area? Do you want to play a part in enabling and empowering homeless people to move on into independent and fulfilled lives? Can you commit a couple of hours every few months to give something back to our community? As a Bridge Trust trustee, you will play a key role in the running of a Christian based charity that has 26 years history of helping homeless people. It will be a rewarding and enriching experience that allows you to support a charity with your knowledge and experience. Our team of trustees are responsible for leading the strategic direction of a charity and making sure it fulfils its organisational objectives. As a trustee, your minimum commitment would be to attend around four Board meetings and one AGM a year. It would also be an advantage if you could assist, where possible, at our fundraising events. The volunteer would be required once a month to attend support group meetings at St Augustine's Church, Crescent Road, Tunbridge Wells from Duties include: meeting, greeting and escorting members to seating, helping with teas, coffees and refreshments, helping to set up chairs and escorting members to transport after the meeting.
