Psalm 34:14b VBS 2017 Hero Central June 19 to 23, 2017, 8:45 am to 11:50 am Held at St. Anne Church Camino Diablo Rd, Byron Open to all children entering Kindergarten to 6 th grade for the 2017/18 school year. Discover your strength in God! We will start the day at Hero Central Headquarters and take a tour of Bible Story Headquarters, High Energy Games, Powerful Music, Snack City (for a morning snack), Gadget and Gizmos Central Crafts, and Science and Mission Anything s Possible. We will conclude our Hero mission with a performance by all of the children on Friday evening an event that s fun for the whole family. Children with special needs are welcome, and a parent or guardian must accompany them throughout the program. Please note that for the safety of everyone, identification may be required when picking up your child at the close of each day. Registration For the 5-day camp the cost is $35 for your 1 st child and $30 for each additional child. Registration will be accepted through June 1, All participant families (including children of volunteers) need to complete a Registration Packet to reserve a space. Adult volunteers should complete our Adult Volunteer form (included) and background check. Youth should complete the Youth Volunteer packet available from your church or via from tina_duncan@yahoo.com. Space is limited (due to fire codes) so sign up soon! Everyone is encouraged to join in and help with registration, crafts, music, skits, photography, physical activities, supplies, or financial support. 4 VBS Adult Volunteer Background Check St. Anne Church (and most of our churches) now require all volunteers with regular access to minors to be Livescan fingerprinted. This is a ONE TIME process and will not need to be repeated in subsequent years. In addition, all volunteers will need to complete the Shield the Vulnerable on-line course every 3 years to be trained in the signs of child abuse, reporting procedures, awareness of the characteristics of child abuse perpetrators, and steps that can be taken to safeguard the children in our care. The safety of our children and youth volunteers is our highest priority. While this will require some additional steps in the volunteer process, we believe this is an important and necessary process. The steps for all adult volunteers, whether a past volunteer or new volunteer are: (1) Complete the front and back side of this form and turn in with your VBS registration. (2) If you are a NEW volunteer, or have not completed the Shield the Vulnerable training in the last 2 years ( please take the on-line course and submit certificate to Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer meeting. (3) You will be contacted by the Volunteer Coordinator, Tina Duncan, (4) All NEW adult volunteers must have a Livescan background check performed Please obtain a copy of the Livescan form from the following link: and take it to Brentwood Police station (or any police station offering live scan) and complete the fingerprinting. The cost should be about $30 and can be a donation or St. Anne can reimburse you for the cost of the scan. Note: you must use the form from the Oakland diocese and not one from the police department.
