1 Shoutout Trustees Annual Report & Accounts I love Shoutout so much going on Fridays with my friends and going on trips with them they re the best ever they like a family to me they re are amazing feeling proud (Mark)

2 Shoutout Trustees Annual Report and Accounts for the year ending 31 March 2015 Shoutout is a charitable incorporated organisation. Registered charity number: Type of governing document: Constitution adopted 21 January 2014 The charity trustees are elected by members at the Annual General Meeting each year Contact us at: Telephone pcdixon30@gmail.com Website: Registered address: 6 Durham Close, Midway, Swadlincote, Derbyshire DE11 7LJ Our Charity Trustees (committee) are: Kim Coe (Secretary) Paul Dixon (Chair) Sue Dixon Ann Watson Shoutout s charitable objects are: To relieve the needs of disabled people (primarily but not exclusively those living the district of South Derbyshire). We aim to give social and learning opportunities and a voice to adults with learning and physical disabilities living in South Derbyshire and the surrounding areas. When I joined the family it s been one amazing experience, I can see it s a real life change and to be honest, I couldn t think any other better place to give my time for, but I can say thank you to all the members and volunteers for letting being a part of the family (Sam) We do this by: Encouraging people of all abilities to come together on equal terms, to encourage inclusion in the wider community. Visitors to Shoutout often comment that it is hard to tell who are the members and who are the volunteers this is something that we are proud of! Providing social, learning and leisure activities so that adults with additional needs can become more confident and less isolated. We also work to challenge discrimination, to make society more tolerant and inclusive and stop bullying. Offering opportunities for decision makers and people who provide services to seek the views and opinions of our members We welcome adults with additional needs whatever their background, abilities and personal circumstances. History Shoutout started in September 2011, when a number of local partners saw that adults with learning difficulties lacked a local voice. A series of Learning Disability Forums at Rosliston Forestry Centre gave people the chance to meet and get to know each other through sports, arts, training and other activities. Shoutout is an amazing group I have grown in confidence since attending the group. It is a place I feel safe and I won t be judged. And the level of support is fantastic (Kelly)

3 The name Shoutout was chosen at a Forum in February 2012 and Shoutout constituted as a voluntary group in The following two years saw the development, in response to members needs and requests, of the core Shoutout activities we offer today: The Friday Night drop-in; Winshill Wednesdays monthly drop in at Winshill Neighbourhood Resource Centre in Burton on Trent; Sailability sailing at Swarkestone Sailing Club; and a regular programme of trips, outings and social activities in the community. On 28 March 2014 Shoutout registered as a charitable incorporated organisation and the old (unincorporated) charity was dissolved on 30 June Achievements during The Friday night drop in has gone from strength to strength. It runs nearly every Friday of the year (we only closed for 2 weeks last year) and now has a regular attendance between 20 and 30 members. The club offers a varied programme of sports, arts, crafts and training as well as the opportunity to spend time and enjoy time with friends over a fish and chip supper, fancy dress party, playing pool, first aid training, game of Boccia, Shout out is really good and it is cool to go to. Shout out is like a family to me (Marc) being creatively crafty with Tracy and Pat or just hanging out and eating toasties and fruit in the snack bar! Thanks to a further grant from Winshill Parish Council and free use of Winshill Neighbourhood Resource Centre, Winshill Wednesdays at are now in their second year and gradually building up a regular membership. Activities have included Tracy s craft activities, a creative dance taster session with Catherine Clissett from The Brewhouse as well as a very popular pudding tasting evening! Other highlights of the year included: Coach trips to Matlock and Carsington Water (May) and Skegness (July) Two summer weekend camping trips to Bank Farm, Birchover in the Peak District. In August we had a Sailing Day at Swarkestone Sailing Club. We also continued to support regular attendance at the Sailability Sailing where a number of Shoutout members achieved bronze, silver and gold certificates. In July our trustees/volunteers Sue and Paul Dixon celebrated their wedding at Swarkestone Sailing Club. This was not, strictly speaking, a Shoutout event however many Shoutout members, volunteers and supporters responded to an invitation to join them on their special day. We wish them every happiness!

4 In November, we celebrated Shoutout s third birthday at Rosliston Forestry Centre (back where it all started) with Djembe drumming with Tribal Vibes, craft activities and a close encounter with some friendly visiting snakes! Local social activities included Christmas and birthday meals at the Tall Chimney Pub and cinema trips.around 140 individuals are registered with Shoutout and have attended our Woodville or Winshill drop-ins and other activities. 42 people have signed up to be formal voting members of the charity. Another positive development is that friendships are developing and members growing in confidence to meet up socially outside of Shoutout organised events including a regular meet up in a local pub. Shoutout is my family it s the only place I feel like me, they never judge but always care, they re friends I know are always there (Anne) Funding sources We received grants this year from South Derbyshire District Council (for South Derbyshire drop in and other activities), Winshill Parish Council (for Winshill Wednesdays) and came second in a local public vote to receive a grant from Lloyds Community Fund. Fundraising activities by volunteers and supporters included tombolas, table top sales, coffee mornings, collections and sponsored events. We also received a number of generous donations from individuals and organisations. Due to the growth in numbers the Friday night drop in now receives enough income entry fees and snack bar takings to cover its costs, making it possible to sustain itself independently of grant income. Overall only 50% of Shoutout s income came from grants during the year (down from 69% last year). The bulk of this funding was used to pay for activity costs, venue hire and volunteer/travel expenses (a number of volunteers regularly provide lifts to Shoutout members to make it possible for them to get to and take part in our activities). Shout out is organised and run entirely by volunteers which enables us to keep the running costs low. We are ending the year with a healthy surplus which will be used to support the organisation s activities and running costs in the year ahead. Policy on reserves The trustees have agreed that a reserve fund equivalent to at least 3 months running costs will be held in reserve. Future plans Our plans for the coming year are to Continue to support and sustain the Friday Night Drop In and Winshill Wednesdays Organise more activities and outings for members including a pamper night and a narrowboat trip. Recruit more volunteers and trustees to support our work
