Monday, September 11, 2017 United we Stand Milestones Room (Ohio Union) Sixteen years after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, lingering issues remain in terms of cross-cultural understanding in America. Tonight MUNDO and some very special guests will explore ways we can learn from the events of the past while moving forward in ways that promote peace and cross-cultural understanding. Baker West Performance Space Celebrate OSU Ally week but exploring and discussing ways to challenge stereotypes and biases affecting the LGBT communities at Ohio State and beyond. Light refreshments will be provided. Monday, September 25, 2017 STAR HOUSE Service Night 6:00 PM -8:30 PM Star House builds hope by providing homeless youth with a place to sleep, shower, do laundry and stay for the night along with other community-based services. Volunteer with MUNDO as we help with sorting donations and to learn more about this important resource for at-risk youth. This event counts toward the service hour requirement for Puerto Rico. NOTE: Meet at the Ohio Union roundabout area (on the South side of the Union) at 6 PM for round-trip transportation to the site. Monday, October 2, 2017 Strange Foods 6:30 PM - 8 PM Dive into MUNDO s take on the popular TV series Bizarre Foods to learn why it's important to recognize the important connections that often exist between culture and cuisine. Monday, October 9, 2017 Urban v. Rural Life Tonight's interactive discussion will focus on the myths and realities of life in rural and urban communities. By exploring the opportunities and challenges of life in these different environments, ideas will be presented on ways we can learn from each other regardless of where we call home. This is a required program for all participants in the Detroit Experience 2017.

This is a required program for Puerto Rico participants. Monday, November 6, 2017 Life as a Student Veteran In honor of Veteran s Day, MUNDO examines the line between fact and fiction when it comes to the images and realities of a military life regarding service and leadership. A very special guest panel of OSU students and staff will share their insight on this compelling question. Friday, November 10, 2017 The Detroit Experience (Classic Edition) Detroit, MI Journey to the Motor City to learn about the multicultural histories of one of America s most wellknown cities. Cost is only: $7 Monday, November 13, 2017 Art and Soul Hale Black Cultural Center 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM In preparation for the upcoming Puerto Rico experience, MUNDO celebrates the artistic and cultural contributions of Latinx and African American artists both here in Columbus, OH as well as in Puerto Rico. This event is a required program for Puerto Rico experience participants. Monday, November 20, 2017 Global Celebrations 6:30 PM - 8 PM Tonight's experience focuses on learning more about how communities all across the world celebrate everything from fall harvests to religious celebrations. Stop by to learn more and enjoy a few tasty snacks. Also, come and see if you are selected as MUNDO s outstanding participant of the semester! All MUNDO students, staff and faculty are invited to join in the festivities which include tasty snacks! Fri.-Thurs., Dec , 2017 NYC Winter Break Experience 2017 (Deluxe Edition) New York City The NYC Winter Break experience 2017 (Deluxe Edition) from December 15-21, 2017 focuses on the Latinx experience in NYC and beyond, including El Museo del Barrio and comedy from John Leguizamo. We will be exploring global citizenship with a visit to the 9/11 Memorial and the United Nations. As a part of the experience, we will have the chance to analyze the importance of breaking down racial, ethnic and cultural boundaries in order to truly live together as a community. In celebration of MUNDO's 21st anniversary, we will be re-creating our first group photo Please plan to join us in the Big Apple! Important Details: Applicants must submit a completed The New York City experience application via to osumundo@gmail.com. Confirmed participants will be informed how to make payments for the experience by published deadlines. During spring semester MUNDO invites participants to be part of brave spaces focused on what it means to be "Free to be a MUNDO citizen" by exploring current global issues related to service, learning and leadership. Then, later join MUNDO for a screening of Disney-Pixar's Coco at Lennox Towne Center (@ 6:45 PM) Wednesday, January 10, 2018 ES HESA 2571s- Leadership in Community Service Course Begins 3:55-6:50 PM (All spring semester) Monday, January 22, 2018 Helpful Tips and Chicken Strips 6:30-8:00 PM Tonight s session will focus not only on time management skills, how to keep your grades up, and where to look for good internships, but also some important updates on how to make the most out of your second year (and beyond) at Ohio State. Nontraditional Discoveries with MUNDO Challenge yourself to engage in hands-on learning experiences that will push you to take a closer look at the unique factors that shape the world around us Friday, January 26, 2018 Salsa and Soul Food 20 Hale Black Cultural Center 6:30 PM to 9 PM Celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Latinx and African cultures with a tasty sampling of tasty soul food, informative history, and music. Open to all Ohio State students, staff, and faculty. Monday, January 29, 2018 Mardi Gras MUNDO Style 6:30-8 PM In preparation for our spring break in the Deep South, MUNDO explores the histories and legacies of New Orleans including both the opportunities and challenges that exist there.

Participants are encouraged to come with an open mind and a willingness to learn about one of the most influential religions in the world. A sampling of popular foods that are often part of Islamic traditions will also be provided. Tips on promoting mental wellness will also be provided (along with a tasty sampling of Graeter's ice cream and other treats.) Saturday, March 3, 2018 No Day But Today- The MUNDO Gallery Hop Experience 6:00 PM- 8:30 PM MUNDO invites you to experience a unique community not that different from the one featured in the musical RENT right here in Columbus! Meet at the Brutus Statue in the Ohio Union to take the COTA #2 to the Short North for a tour of local galleries, eateries and more! Monday, March 5, 2018 Histories and Legacies of the South 6:30 PM -8:00 PM Join the conversation as MUNDO prepares to explore the concepts of civil rights, social justice, and activism in the context of three southern cities: Memphis, TN, New Orleans, LA. and Birmingham, AL. This session is required for all MUNDO Spring Break participants. March 10-17, 2018 Civil Rights, Citizenship, and Southern Legacies Memphis, New Orleans, and Birmingham MUNDO will explore three of the most dynamic cities in the Southern region of the United States in order to take a powerful look at just how far the United States has come in terms of race relations, Civil Rights, and social justice in this part of the country. All MUNDO participants are invited to apply for this experience and encouraged to prepare themselves for what will likely be a truly eyeopening experience. The cost of the experience is $375.

Elected and Selected officers will be announced at next week s meeting. Monday, April 9, 2018 Closing Ceremonies Hays Cape Room (Ohio Union) 6:00 PM -8:30 PM This is it! MONDAYS WITH MUNDO go out in style and new knowledge. In addition to the formal induction of new members, this festive closing event will feature MUNDO's version of the Mexican tradition of Cascarones to wish good luck to our new execs. and returning members, as well as to graduating seniors and others who won't be returning to MUNDO next year. Saturday, March 24, 2018 The RENT Experience Connor Palace Theatre (Cleveland) 1:30-4:30 PM Be part of the 20th anniversary of the first MUNDO event ever! RENT chronicles the life of young people who must deal with the harsh realities of life with poverty, discrimination and AIDS/HIV on the Lower East side of New York. The cost is only $10. The price includes transportation to Cleveland for the show. Bus departs at 9:30 AM and returns to campus at approximately 7:45 PM.Space is limited. Monday, March 26, 2018 Free Your Mind with Improv. 6:30-8 PM Tonight's meeting focuses on how to use improvisational techniques to spark conversations and think creatively even about difficult topics. Games and practice activities will allow the group to learn cool approaches to "free your mind!" Monday, April 2, 2018 The Big, Beautiful, MUNDO Planning Meeting All MUNDO members are invited to bring their thoughts, ideas, and suggestions for planning the upcoming year with the group.
