2 A Line from Lynn Happy New Year everyone! Hope your holiday season was an enjoyable one looks like it will be an enjoyable one. We have tours already planned and thank you to those special people for signing early in the year. We still need tours though so please contact Don and Kathy McGrath. We have three fairly big events going on this year that we need your help in completing the work involved. The first will be the MAFCA National Convention in Reno in June. We have been asked to provide the table decorations, which are in the process of being made, and also to provide the sign-ups and seating charts for the last evening banquet. Please register for the event now as the tours fill up fast. There seem to be enough rooms so that is some relief! If you can help with the seating sign-ups please contact Bill Truesdell. The next big event will be our 50th Anniversary party in August. The committees for this event are in place but like with anything all the extra help would be welcome. This event will take the place of the annual president s picnic. The next event will be our Holiday party in December. Herb and Marilyn will be planning this but contact them please to offer your help. They have done quite a few years with so little help and it would be nice for them not to have to do everything alone. Along with all of that there are our special nights of pot luck, ice cream and the pie night. Oh yum! We are certainly not a boring club are we? We can all use your help in making sure all events are well all of us put some work into helping to make them a success. I'm excited about all the fun we will have. There have been some changes to the budget and also meeting agendas and please come to the January meeting as I will let you know what these will be. Keep those A's on the road and enjoy the ride. 5 SUNSHINE REPORT As always, we had a lovely Holiday Party. Tours and lunches are greatly enjoyed, but having a chance to see each other all spruced up, celebrating the season, was very special. Herb and Doug s sale of the tools and spare parts donated by Delbert and Pat Uhland. It was a very successful event and the money raised will go toward our 50th Anniversary Celebration. This is very generous of the Uhlands and much appreciated. They have been with us for twenty years. Since Ron has been very sick with the flu, he asked that I pass his message on to the club: Friends and Family... Several of you have asked how I am doing, inasmuch as this influenza bug has hit me rather hard. Rather than have to type this message over and over again, I thought I d use the shotgun approach and cover everyone in just one . In answer to your question as to how I m doing... a little bit better is my answer. Since Christmas, this is the first day I ve really been able to get out of bed and move about. Even so, I can only stand to be up for about an hour, then I have to lie down again. I don t think I ve ever been closer to death (from a bug) than with this last illness. I m still not out of the woods by any means. I really do understand now how people can die from the flu. Just thought you might like to see what the various strains of the influenza virus look like. See: and click on the right arrow in each photo to see the various types. Please don t bother to call on the phone. I cannot hear I m pretty much deaf in both ears -- and even if I could I can only speak for about 5 to 10 seconds before going into an uncontrollable cough. Thanks to many of you for sending cards and s. Bonnie also has the flu, but it has not hit her nearly as hard as it did me. She s a real trooper, being able to not only take care of herself, but me as well. She s as healthy as a horse. Take care, and don t get this bug! Ronald Please continue to send cards and s to both him and Bonnie. And to Ron and everyone else who is suffering with a cold or the flu. GET WELL SOON! Due to budget constraints, the Board has decided to reduce postage costs, so I will be sending Birthday, Anniversary, and Holiday wishes by . Get Well and Sympathy cards will continue to be sent by USPS. Now, take good care of yourselves and others. Sincerely, Nancy Larsen MotoMeter 5 January 2018
