3 Suite 31, 58 Low Friar Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, Dear colleague, We would like to warmly welcome you to our organisation which is specifically aimed at supporting pharmacists and technicians working in the HIV, sexual health and infectious disease specialities. HIVPA is the UK HIV Pharmacy Association which was established in 1991 and has a long history of providing high quality education, support and networking for its members to improve professional and personal development. HIVPA membership is open to anyone with a special interest in HIV, infectious diseases and sexual health. HIVPA provides a range of educational opportunities which includes, four high quality educational study days and a two day national conference every year plus online training modules. The 4 study days a year are held in London and can be watched via a live stream at the time or can be watched later on the ehive area of the website at your convenience. It is possible to submit questions when watching the study day in live time and receive your answers at the end of the talk. There are always top class speakers covering a wide range of topics that are chosen from the feedback forms that attendees complete at the study day or online There are also learning modules on the ehive area of the website which include an Introduction to HIV module and a paediatric HIV module is in current development. HIVPA recognises and promotes advanced pharmacy practice and supports research and collaboration with other health care professionals. HIVPA works closely with BHIVA, BASHH, the RPS and many national HIV Charities and is represented on several writing sub committees e:g BHIVA National treatment guidelines and contributes to national standard documents. HIVPA Patient Information Leaflets are available for use in your clinics and are accessible for downloading from the website. Our website contains a protected discussion forum which enables you to obtain advice from senior and experienced colleagues providing a valuable way to share information and network with colleagues to support each other. The more you use it the more you will get out of it and it gives you the opportunity to be a content provider as well as a user. Members also receive a significantly reduced price for the annual 2 day conference. Our Annual Conference is always a great success and we strive to provide a wide variety and degree of learning including excellent and relevant talks, symposiums and dedicated workshops which cater for all levels of expertise and interest. Of course, this is also a tremendous opportunity to meet old and new colleagues working in the area of HIV.

4 The bi-annual HIVPA bulletin is included in your membership and you will receive these by . The bulletin contains the latest news, updates and articles written by members for members. We welcome support from our membership in varying degrees of participation with written pieces of work for the bulletin, projects, consultation processes and numerous other ventures that we are involved in and which raises the profile for HIV pharmacy. As well as having a dedicated membership we are fortunate to have a group of people with a wide range of expertise who make up our Committee and Expert Panel who you can see on the website and they are always happy to offer support and advice whenever possible. In addition, we are supported financially by industry sponsors which enable HIVPA to function and provide the educational opportunities available to our members free of charge. You will have the opportunity to meet industry sponsors at the study days and at the conference where they will have exhibition space, so please show them your support. We regularly send out information and updates via to help keep you informed of relevant information pertaining to our speciality. These can originate from partner organisations such as the RPS, as well as other Affiliated Professional organisations and HIVPA sponsors and may include drug updates and changes to practice which may affect you in your speciality, as well as potential job opportunities.
