1 THE AUXILIARY BAROMETER FEBRUARY 2018 UNITY Presidents Message Busy February; hope everyone had a great Valentine s Day and President s Weekend. Finally looks like winter outside, enjoy the snow and be careful of the ice. We have an update on the Robert Maloff Center for Orthopedics and Wellness a.k.a. The Center. The opening is in sight, the Certificate of Occupancy is scheduled for March 16th, then the next step is to install network and technology, performance equipment and furniture. Based on projected schedules patients should begin being seen April or beginning of May. Stay tuned for more details. Last week Blair Bolles, Mary Jolley, Joanne Donmoyer and myself represented you at the California Association of Hospitals & Health Systems - California Hospitals Volunteer Leadership Conference. The conference covered such topics as: New Approaches to Volunteer Recruitment, Using Technology to Move your Volunteer Programs, Demonstrating the Impact of Volunteer Involvement, Volunteering and the Law UP-date. In following issues of the Barometer we will have excerpts from the different sessions we attended. Personally for me it was a positive learning experience and an encouraging experience. Speaking with other volunteers from various auxiliaries having the same difficulties of recruitment and adaption to the growing health care environment (we are not alone), strengthened my resolve in our auxiliary to grow, adapt and continue to be an asset to our hospital, patients and community. Unity is strength 1.
