2 2015 Board Review Course Course Information This unique event is offered by the Pediatric Endocrine Society to provide targeted preparation for the Pediatric Endocrinology Boards and the Pediatric Endocrinology Recertification Exam. It is also an intensive review of Pediatric Endocrinology for Pediatricians and Adult Endocrinologists. Program/Event Description The Pediatric Endocrinology Board Review 2015 offers both general review and targeted test preparation for certification/recertification in pediatric endocrinology. The course utilizes formal didactic sessions, as well as informal question/ answer opportunities and social interactions with educational leaders in the field. Objectives of the Program 1.) Provide a framework for ongoing independent learning for individuals preparing for certification and recertification in Pediatric Endocrinology. 2.) Offer a structured didactic and interactive educational experience in Pediatric Endocrinology for other interested physicians, including pediatric endocrinologists who will not immediately be preparing for a recertification exam, adult endocrinologists and general pediatricians who desire an intensive update in pediatric endocrinology. Target Audience Any physician preparing for the Pediatric Endocrine Boards or looking for a review of Pediatric Endocrine topics. Course Schedule The Course will begin with Registration on Wednesday, April 22 at 3:30pm. The first session will begin at 5:30pm. The Course will consist of individual sessions, followed by a panel discussion, audience participation questions and then small group discussions. The course will conclude by 5:00pm, Friday, April 24. Course Topics Biological and Research Methods and Principles Statistics, study design, and data interpretation Carbohydrate metabolism/type 1 diabetes Type 2 DM/insulin resistance/obesity Hypoglycemia Physiology and disorders of growth and puberty Thyroid physiology and disorders Bone and calcium metabolism and disorders Adrenal physiology and disorders Pituitary development and hypopituitarism Reproductive physiology and disorders Multiple endocrine neoplasia and other endocrine cancer syndromes Lipids metabolism and disorders Accreditation Statement This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Institute for the Advancement of Human Behavior (IAHB) and the Pediatric Endocrine Society (PES). IAHB is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Credit Designation Statement IAHB designates this live activity for a maximum of 16.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Hotel Information The Board Review Course will be held at the Wyndham San Diego Bayside Hotel, located about a mile from the San Diego Convention Center.
