2 Conference overview Heart disease remains the number one killer of Americans. Stroke ranks fourth and is a leading cause of severe disability in adults. Some forms of cardiovascular disease affect more than one in every three adult Americans. It is imperative for primary care clinicians to remain up-to-date on knowledge, practice guidelines and medical skills of the ever-changing and improving cardiovascular delivery system. Cardiovascular Update will provide up-to-date information on evidence-based medicine, including practical concepts and advancements in cardiovascular disease. The format includes lectures, panel discussions, lunch-and-learn sessions, an early-bird session on wellness, maintenance of certification (MOC) and time for dialogue with the experts. Educational objectives Following this learning activity, participants will be able to: Describe contemporary therapeutic and diagnostic approaches to a variety of common cardiovascular conditions Select appropriate therapies in the treatment of heart failure, hypertension, chronic coronary disease, peripheral vascular disease and atrial fibrillation Recognize and appropriately evaluate cardiovascular emergencies Discuss prevention strategies and lifestyle modification to improve the well-being of your patients Accreditation is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 5 Post-conference activity Thursday, November 30 Cardiovascular Disease, 2017 Update American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Learning Session Registration fee: $75 Target audience The ABIM Learning Session is designed for ABIM Board Certified physicians who are maintaining their certification. Additionally, the learning session is open to clinicians who wish to attend for general knowledge purposes. Learning session overview The learning session will be conducted in an interactive group setting and led by ABIM Board Certified physicians, who will also review MOC requirements. During the learning session, the group will identify and discuss the answers to the module questions. Following the session, ABIM Board Certified physicians may log into their physician login home page to download the modules and submit the answers to ABIM for scoring, CME and MOC credit. Those who successfully complete the module will receive 10 points towards ABIM s Self-Evaluation of Medical Knowledge requirement for Maintenance of Certification.
