2 Welcome I would like to welcome you to the third symposium on cardiovascular disease in women. The objective of the Her at Heart initiative is to raise awareness amongst both the healthcare professionals and the general public on the extent of cardiovascular disease in women. It focuses on addressing the issues of continued under diagnosis and under treatment in women with cardiovascular disease and the under representation of women with heart disease in research studies and trials. Following the success of the first two symposia, we are pleased to announce that this year we will be collaborating with the SCAI WIN initiative (The Society For Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions Women in Innovations). We have a world renowned national and international faculty who will be sharing with us the latest data and their personal views on the issues surrounding the management of women with cardiovascular disease. We will have the UK perspective with representation from the British Cardiovascular Society, the British Heart Foundation and Cardiac Networks on how to move forward in implementing services for women with heart disease in the UK. Undoubtedly we need to strive to improve service delivery in women with heart disease and conduct gender specific research in order to improve quality of care in women with cardiovascular disease. Cavendish Square Car Park and Harley Street Car Park is a short walk from the venue. Also disabled parking is available. LOCATION AND TRANSPORT The King s Fund is situated in the heart of London s West End. Close to shops, theatres, restaurants and the Royal Colleges. It is conveniently located for all the main London railway stations and tube lines. Closest tube station to the venue is Oxford Circus (0.2km) Bakerloo, Central & Victoria lines. (Exit corner 4 near H&M Store). Other tube lines in walking distance are Bond Street and Regents Park. The nearest airport to the venue is Heathrow airport. The venue can then be accessed by car or by taxi or even by train. The venue is within the congestion zone so please do remember to pay the congestion charge.
