A one day Workshop on 10 th November 2012 is an evidence-backed protocol that combines a sound-based intervention with sensory integrative activities to create a comprehensive program that is effective for diverse populations with sensory challenges. Therapeutic Listening can impact sensory modulation, attention, behaviour, postural organization, and speech and language difficulties. Trained therapists learn to use modulated music to set up programs for clients in homes, schools and clinics. Listening is a function of the entire brain; when we listen, we listen with the whole body. Further information can be found at Course Summary This one day workshop, presented by Sheila & Ron Frick, will explore the use of therapeutic sound as a tool within the context of a sensory motor treatment approach. Through sound and movement we will explore the developmental neurophysiologic movement patterns. Developing and integrating these patterns, which are often incomplete and underdeveloped in individuals with sensory processing problems, leads to improvement in sensory modulation, self regulation, core/postural development and bilateral skill. We will explore these patterns beginning with breath and midline organization, moving through the developmental sequence to total body connectivity and integration. Each pattern will be presented with specific therapeutic activities and matched musical support. Through lab experience the participant will gain an embodied experience of each of the movement and sound patterns to lead to better clinical observation skill as well as understanding to design treatment programs for their clients. This course is suitable for therapists with or without Therapeutic Listening training.

2 Presenters Sheila Frick has over 25 years of clinical experience. Her expertise includes sensory processing dysfunction, sensory integration and auditory interventions. Sheila created and continues to expand, which she has taught to over 10,000 therapists worldwide. She is the author of Listening with the Whole Body: Clinical Concepts and Treatment Guidelines for and co-author of Core Concepts in Action, Astronaut training, Out of the Mouths of Babes and M.O.R.E: Integrating the Mouth with Sensory and Postural Functions. Who Should Attend? This course is open to therapy professionals and some educational staff if supported by a trained therapist.

4 Venue Information Antoinette Hotel Wimbledon The Broadway Wimbledon, London, SW19 1SD Antoinette Wimbledon is situated on Wimbledon Broadway and is just 6 miles (10 km) outside central London, Wimbledon main line railway station and underground is minutes away and can take you into Central London in just 10 minutes. By Road Exit M25 at junction 10 and take the A3 into London. Exit the A3 at Merton/Wimbledon exit and follow the A219 from Tibbets Corner roundabout along Parkside (Wimbledon Common should be on your right hand side). This will lead you into Wimbledon Village, proceed over both mini roundabouts and down Wimbledon Hill into Wimbledon town centre. You will see Wimbledon train station on your left hand side, continue down the Broadway, taking care not to get swept left or right into various one way systems. The hotel is at the bottom of this road, on the right hand side. Parking is available at the hotel. By Train Alight at Wimbledon, take a left turn out of Wimbledon station on to the Broadway. The hotel is a 10 minute walk at the bottom of the Broadway. By Underground The District Line is located in the same terminal as the main line train service. The Northern Line is situated in South Wimbledon. You will exit this station and see a crossroads directly in front of you. Walk down Merton Road (not Merton High Street) and the hotel is on the left hand side just after the road has veered sharply to the left. This is approximately a 6 minute walk. By Air Heathrow airport is approximately 45 minutes from the Hotel, easily reachable via the M25. Gatwick Airport is also about 45 minutes away via the M25, M23 and A3.
