2 Osteoporosis 2014 Osteoporosis currently affects over two million people in the UK with approximately 300,000 people suffering from a fragility fracture each year. As our national life expectancy increases so will the prevalence of this chronic disease. Osteoporosis places a massive burden on the NHS in the UK.
