Armstrong, MD, FACS State Surgeon General & Secretary Vision: To be the Healthiest State in the Nation FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE contact: Public Information Date June 20, 2014 HIV TEST DAY EXPANDS TO NATIONAL HIV TESTING WEEK June 21-June 27 PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL Local organizations are joining the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County by expanding HIV Test Day that traditionally occurred June 27, into a week of activities talking about HIV, testing for HIV and treating HIV. In 2013 during the week that included HIV test day over 10,000 people received the test and of those 80 people were positive for HIV. Females accounted for 54.6% (5,610) of the tests and 18.7% (15) of the positives. Conversely, males accounted for 43.7% (4,494) of the tests and 81.3% (65) of the positives. We encourage everyone who is sexually active to be tested, added Rob Scott HIV/AIDS Educator for Florida Health Palm Beach County, HIV can infect anyone. Florida Health Palm Beach County Health Centers in Delray Beach, West Palm Beach, Lantana, and Belle Glade offer HIV testing and will include STD testing from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm on June 27 for walk-ins.
