President Report How you Doin, Thank you everyone with my first year as president. I could not do this without everyone's support. This year saw many great and challenging things that happened to Swim Club Emerton and we got through it. Now lets recap on what this past year has brought us. November 2013: In my first meeting with Stacey (ELC Manager) and Ian Loveday, Stacey informed us that Blacktown Council and Emerton Leisure Centre renewed our agreement with Swim Club Emerton for the next 5 years. Rachel Johnson, our Publicity Officer, created our facebook page. This was created to showcase all our swimmers achievements and special events e.g. birthdays. We also welcomed Kasey Mead to our Swim Club this month. December 2013: Thomas Dunn became the face of our web page. Swim Club Emerton helped ELC with the swim school Christmas party with our masterchef s cooking our well known BBQ and the Christmas raffle that Tammy Heath went around to different companies to source the prizes. January 2014: After discussions with the SCE committee we decided to buy Team Manager to help our Race Secretary run club nights and also to help enter our swimmers into external Carnivals. The club would like to congratulate Danielle and John on the birth of their new baby boy Koby on the 21st January. February 2014: Schools back and club night started but not many things happened in February, but just keep reading, a quiet February was made up by a busy March.
March 2014: Heaps of things happened we launched SCE Team App to make it easier to share information due to our web page being a headache. The club expanded this month with Blake, Lucie, Chelsea and Daniel joining our club. After some investigations Danielle and John managed to source our very own SCE temporary tattoos to help advertise our club during swim meets and for our swimmers to be proud of where we come from. SCE helped ELC again with the end of term Easter party by providing a BBQ and a Easter Raffle. April 2014: Kerrie-Ann Anstis from Swimming NSW helped our indigenous swimmers by providing them with swimming caps. Kerrie-Ann got photo s with our swimmers wearing the swimming caps and published them in the Swimming NSW magazine, Indigenous times and the Koori mail. May 2014: Kylee started planning our annual trip away to Ulladulla. The meetings started with the council about Squad fees. June 2014: SCE and ELC worked together to run end of term Mini meet. Kristie Caplikas joined SCE this month. July 2014: ELC held an Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander day with stalls and rides. Tammy, John, Shaalee and myself ran a SCE stall and walked around advertising our club by wearing our SCE shirts. We also had a few photo s done with one of the photo s published in our local paper. Summer Atkinson joined SCE and we had one swimmer, Kristie Caplikas, qualify for metropolitan championship SC in 100m Free and 100m Fly. Well done Kristie. We had our annual trip away to Ulladulla with 17 swimmers competing in 115 individual events with of course 23 loud adults cheering them on. It was a good trip away, just remember what happened in Ulladulla stays in Ulladulla isn t that right bath buddy Chris.
August 2014: SCE had 10 swimmers that made it to D Squad. 6 of our 10 swimmers attended the camp for two days. In March, SCE participated in the Go Club PB program via Swimming Australia. We received our results this month and were successful in achieving a Silver level in this program. As a result we received a club grant of a starting system. September 2014: SCE held a bowling and laser tag night for all swimmers. SCE and ELC ran a mini meet together for the end of term. All 10 D squad swimmers competed in the State D squad meet and we also helped ELC by running a BBQ for their family fun day. So to wrap, we had a eventful year with the BULLDOGS making it to the grand final, oh yeah back to swimming. I am proud to be the president and I have tried to put all my heart into this roll, so thankyou for all your support and let us continue to build a bigger and better club. Don t forget it s all about the swimmers Scott Stubbs SCE President
Treasurer's Report It is my pleasure to submit the Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet reports for Swim Club Emerton Incorporated for the year ended 30 September PROFIT And LOSS For the year ended 30 September 2014 the club made a surplus of $1,183. The total revenue received for the year was $13,140. Registrations totalled $672 and club race night card fees were $849. Hard work in fundraising assisted the club to achieve this result. All money raised goes back into managing our club and supporting our swimmers. Our major event each year is our presentation day and the majority of our fundraising goes towards this day. Fundraising is also used to support social events such as the AMF bowling and laser tag night and our catering at the Ulladulla weekend away swim meet. Fundraising profits this year included the following: BBQ Club Nights = $1,045 BBQ Special Events (ELC Christmas/Easter Parties, Mini Meets and Family Fun Day) = $792 Christmas/Easter raffles, Guessing Competition and Lucky Numbers = $834 Major purchases this financial year included the team manager software which has helped streamline our race scheduling and results database and also the SCE tattoos which our swimmers wear with pride. The meet receipts are offset by matching payments and do not contribute to the net position. BALANCE SHEET As at the 30 September 2014 the club had $7, in the bank as per the ANZ bank statement. Two cheques totally $785 were unpresented as at the 30 September 2014 therefore the adjusted cash at bank balance is $6, The club is in a healthy position to move forward. I take this opportunity to thank Blacktown City Council and the Emerton Leisure Centre management, administration and coaching staff for their continued support of our club. Christina Fava Treasurer
Race Secretary Report As we come to the end of another successful swimming year for Swim Club Emerton I would like to congratulate all our young swimmers on their wonderful achievements and to mention just a few. This year the Club had 10 swimmers chosen to represent Metro South West at the Swimming NSW D squad Meet where Kristie Caplikas finished first in both the 50M Fly and the 50M Freestyle and second in the 50M Backstroke. A fantastic achievement, both for Kristie and Swim Club Emerton. Kristie also represented our Club at 2 other State meets during the year and as one of our newest members is a real asset to the Club. We also had 2 of our youngest members, Georgia Heath and Ryder Stubbs, selected to represent our Club in the Metro South West Novice squad. Well done to all our swimmers who were selected for these squads and thank you for representing the Club so admirably. Our Club was again well represented in the Swimming Australia Junior Excellence Program which rewards young swimmers aged between 9 and 13 for reaching national JX times and standards at recognized Meets throughout the year. This year we had some outstanding results with both Kristie Caplikas and Paige Stubbs achieving a Gold standard and Cloe Carrasco achieving a Silver Standard and Georgia Crebbin, Teone Fava and Kasey Mead achieving Bronze, while Riley Heath, Matthew Fava and Joel Lack all received Green. These results were amazing for such a small Club so well done to all of you for all your hard work and effort. Our Club members also attended many other Metro South West and Club Meets including our annual trip to the Ulladulla Swim Club Meet, where they have won medals, achieved personal bests and always, and most importantly, been model ambassadors for Swim Club Emerton. I would also like to take a moment to thank all the parents who have helped out at Club nights and Mini -Meets during the year. These Meets help the Club to raise its profile in the community and hopefully, gain new members and none of it would be possible without the support the Club receives from its hardworking volunteers. So a very sincere thank- you to all of you. Finally, congratulations to all of our 2014 Award Recipients. Well done on achieving Swim Club Emerton s highest rewards for effort and dedication to your swimming. Keep up the good work and remember, in the words of Michael Phelps, You can t put a limit on anything, the more you dream the farther you get. Kerry Loveday Race Secretary Swim Club Emerton
