1 SeniorS Chat May 2011 Prez says: We want to give a big Thank You to our April Guest Speaker, Vicki Hurwitz for her very informative and interesting presentation on Discoveries of Deaf Women s Lives Interwoven with My Life s Experiences. We very much enjoyed meeting and getting to know this elegant and gracious lady. At our upcoming May potluck event, Gary Viall and Donna Graff will treat us to a Travelogue of their recent trip to Louisiana and Florida, and the things they saw and did on the way. We are looking forward to this armchair trip. Celebrate Communication 2011 Saturday, May 14, AM-3PM George Mason University, Center for the Arts, Fairfax, VA FREE Admission Now in its 8th year, Celebrate Communication is the premier event for deaf and hard of hearing people, their families and friends in the metro area. With over 50 exhibitors, you can discover a wealth of information all in one place! See the latest about hot new technologies, government services, great resources, support groups and more. Find out where the Sign Language classes are. Test equipment, talk to professionals, and learn strategies that help improve communication. Step into the Lions Club Mobile Van for a hearing or vision screening test. Artists and crafters, activities for children, door prizes and a snack bar help make this a fun day for the whole family. This event is hosted by the Northern Virginia Resource Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons and the Helen A. Kellar Institute for Human disabilities. Sponsors: Virginia Relay/VDDHH, AT&T, Boston Properties, ALDA-Potomac Chapter Virginia Association of the Deaf 57th Biennial Conference July 21-24, 2011 Holiday Inn Sandston, Virginia
