Radigraphs: In the event that a candidate needs t take radigraphs, an x-ray machine will be available alng with an assistant t prcess films. Digital imaging is nt available t nn-dsu students. X-Ray film may be purchased fr $30.00 fr a full-muth set f films including a munt. Film fr retakes will be $1.00 per film. All fees must be paid in cash. N credit cards r checks are accepted. Administratin f Lcal Anesthetic: A qualified, licensed practitiner will be available t administer lcal anesthetic t Candidate Patients during the exam fr $20.00 per patient, cash nly. A. Practitiner(s) (meeting prescribed criteria as stated in the Candidate Guide) will be AVAILABLE during the exam t administer lcal anesthesia t all Candidate Patients. During the Clinical Exam Dental Operatry Units: All peratries are equipped with Belmnt chairs, BDS 0020 and delivery cntrl Belmnt X-Calibur Infectin Cntrl (Surface Asepsis): Each candidate will be expected t clean her/his peratry area fllwing the examinatin. Candidates will be given a packet f barriers t reset the area fr the fllwing candidate. All barriers, eye prtectin, masks and glves are required during cleaning tasks. Sprays will nt be used in the immediate clinic area. Disinfectin f clinic surfaces is t be perfrmed using pre-mistened Sani-clths lcated in the cabinet underneath the sink. 6 Please clean up any disclsing slutin spills r she scuff marks frm the flrs when cleaning. Cleaning supplies are available upn request. All area tuched during patient treatment shuld be barrier wrapped. These areas shuld als be wiped dwn with Sani-clths fllwing the examinatin. Overglves are available s that n paperwrk r pens are tuched with patient glves. Candidates shuld arrive with sterile instruments. In the event candidates need sterilizatin prcedures, an assistant will run the instruments thrugh an ultrasnic pre-cleaning unit, then autclave them. Instruments will nt be sterilized fllwing the examinatin, s candidates must bring apprpriate cntainers fr carrying siled instruments. A large red bihazard cntainer is lcated in the sterilizatin area that is lcated in the middle f the clinical area. There will be a small white bag with bihazard sticker at each unit fr bihazard waste. Hazardus Waste Dispsal (exam-type specific): Hygiene: Prcedure fr dispsal f bld/saliva-saked waste. A large red bihazard cntainer is lcated in the sterilizatin area that is lcated in the middle f the clinical area. There will be a small white bag with bihazard sticker at each unit fr bihazard waste. During cleanup, these bags shuld be flded dwn tightly, taped shut and depsited in the large red bihazard bin. The bihazard waste is nly fr bld saked items. Other dispsable items may be placed in the regular garbage cans. Lcal Anesthesia: Sharps cntainers are available in each peratry. With prtective shield in place, remve needle frm syringe and place in a paper cup. Dump paper cup in sharps cntainer. Restrative: Prcedure fr dispsal f amalgam scraps. Plastic cntainers are available in each peratry fr amalgam waste. Place in the cntainer and it will be handled by DSU persnnel. Sharps Dispsal: Red plastic sharps cntainers are available in each peratry. All needles, irrigatin tips, brken instrument tips etc. shuld be safely placed in a paper cup then emptied int the sharps cntainer. Emergency Medical Equipment: First aid kits are lcated in the sterilizatin area and faculty rm. An AED is munted n the wall between Sterilizatin rm and faculty rm. Emergency xygen tank is in the Panrex rm. An emergency binder is n the wall utside the Panrex rm with all necessary infrmatin. Each peratry has a medical emergency prtcls binder munted abve the sink. All DSU phnes need t dial an 8 fr an utside line. Travel and Accmmdatin Infrmatin Airprt Infrmatin: The Las Vegas Internatinal Airprt is 2 hurs suth f DSU. The St. Gerge Metr Airprt is 15 minutes frm DSU. Grund Transprtatin: St. Gerge shuttle and St. Gerge Express have shuttle vans and taxi service available.
