2 COLLIER COUNTY FEBRUARY WELL-NEWS 3-Mile Beach Walk at Lowdermilk Park Page 2 Quotes from participants: I found myself relax as soon as I heard the surf Best stress relief activity I could do for myself
3 Page 3 3-Mile Beach Walk at Lowdermilk Park I intend to walk on the beach more often. I found it so relaxing. The sandy beach walk really gave my legs and calves a great work-out.
4 COLLIER COUNTY FEBRUARY WELL-NEWS Fitness Success - Zumbini Class Page 4 I gave birth to my first child on 6/26/2017, a baby girl named Riley. My husband and I did In Vitro for conceiving after years of trying on our own with no success. When I started out the journey of IVF, I weighed 130lbs. The IVF medications put on about 10lbs and I was 140lbs when I found out I was pregnant. I was able to maintain a healthy pregnancy weight for the majority of my pregnancy, but in the last two months weight just seemed to pile on quickly. My weigh in at the time I went to the hospital to deliver was 185lbs! Since having Riley and getting the 6 week postpartum clearance to work out, I have begun walking every day with her. I put her in her stroller, harness up our two dogs, and we walk around our neighborhood each evening after work. I also enrolled her and I in a local, weekly Zumbini class (Zumba for babies and their parents) and Mommy and Me yoga. Dancing around with her in my arms has been such a fun way to not only bond with her and other new parents but to get a work out in too! I have also printed out the monthly fitness challenges Risk Management has in the newsletters and started to combine a few of the exercises to help tone my body back. My husband and I have also started a vegetarian diet and have been very mindful of cooking plant-based meals with tons of healthy proteins and vegetables. Signing up for the Holiday Weight Challenge also helped me to be cognizant of over-eating during holidays and in the office with tons of goodies around! It is just over six months since I had Riley and I am down to 145lbs. I still have 15lbs more to go to get back to pre-pregnancy and pre-ivf weight. My sister s wedding is in April so I have a goal to be around 135 by then. Taking my health and weight seriously has never been more important than now, as I have become a parent. I want to ensure I set good examples for healthy living for my daughter. Written by Katie Sibert Congratulations Katie Baby: Riley
