3 TRADITIONAL YOGA This class consists of loosening exercises, joint movements, sun salutations followed by a set of traditional Hatha yoga postures in standing, sitting, supine and prone lying positions. It helps to develop balance of the body and mind, increase flexibility and joint mobility. It also helps to reinforce the strength of spine & improves body flexibility. Samantha presents a surprisingly modern and practical take on ancient asana, pranayama, meditation, bandhas and mudras. PRANAYAM YOGIC BREATHING Breath awareness is so important that, in a sense, you can say that the whole science of breath begins with awareness, and ends with awareness. Everything else, in the middle, is preparation for awareness. We all should experience the wonderful breathing techniques which really expands our life. Practice of pranayama develops a steady mind, strong will power. It also bridges the body and mind and improves the quality of life. YOGA FOR WOMEN Of course this is specially made for women; there will be some of the basic joint movements, sun salutations, postures to increase related problems, to give better sleep and so. It ends with relaxation. Yoga is an excellent practice for women at every stage of life. Yoga gives lot of assistance and strength to range of motion, strength and endurance. Postures to improve the functions of gastrointestinal and endocrine glands and some postures beneficial for reproductive and menstrual women so that they will be able to handle challenges and stress, whether emotional or physical. Yoga asana which strengthen the abdominal muscles are good for reducing women s problems related to lower abdomen. We believe you are what you eat and so at The BodyHoliday, our emphasis on locally grown organic produce means we re helping you to look and feel better than ever. To complement the special programme of Yoga activities, and to make you feel great about healthy eating, we are pleased to present special yogic foods that will lift your spirits. During your sojourn here, you will certainly be tempted and probably deserve some of the naughtier options on our menus, but you might want to nourish your soul as well and try our healthy nutritious organic vegetarian dishes. 4 Kathryn Cullen. Kathryn considers Yoga a lifelong pursuit and believes she will be a student for the rest of her life and beyond. She believes that Yoga is not just a workout, but is about working on yourself on many levels; spiritual and physical. It is the perfect opportunity to be curious about who you are, and start a journey of self-discovery. With over 22 years experience, she is undoubtly a Master Trainer in Body Balance. Kathryn has studied various schools of Yoga including: Vinyoga, Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Power Yoga, the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli and other various forms of Hatha Yoga. She integrates these disciplines in all her classes to create flowing, strong, mindful, dynamic practices. She has qualified to teach Restorative Yoga having been confronted with cancer and so helps people in similar situations, helping to renew physical, mental and emotional wellbeing in their lives by using a compassionate and mindful teaching style. Kathryn s yoga classes are suitable for all levels, ages and abilities. All of the practices she teaches focus on the essential element of breath awareness, posture, safe and effective body alignment and include the extremely important elements of relaxation and meditation. Her classes integrate the spiritual and philosophical teachings of yoga with the energy and strength of a workout. Kathryn s number one aspiration is to encourage her students to incorporate the sense of balance, stability and harmony they learn through these classes into their daily life. All you need to bring to class is your mind and your body! YOGA FOR BACKPAIN Samantha Semmalar Back pain, one of the common problems of present day, is caused due to stress and tension in the muscles that support the spine. This class is not only for those who have back pain and also to correct & maintain the natural curvature of the spine. There will be specific postures to strengthen the back and abdominal muscles and help the body maintain a proper upright posture and movement. It eases back pain, by stretching and strengthening the muscles of the back. It increases blood circulation brings healing nutrients to the injured tissues. HARA YOGA Yoga for Gastro-Intestinal Health Yoga balances all systems of the human anatomy by massaging the glands and organs of the body. Massaging specific internal organs can stimulate the glandular system that causes diabetes. Organs such as the pancreas and other endocrine glands are activated when they are stretched or compressed initiating an increase in the volume of oxygenated blood to the cells. This practice also helps to strengthen the digestive system

5 Dr. Manoj Kutteri After completing a medical degree in Holistic Medicine from India, Dr. Manoj started working at some of the premiere holistic hospitals in India within the capacity of resident Naturopath. He continued conducting Group Yoga and Meditation classes for health seekers and gradually developed an interest in therapeutic Yoga practices. He then got diversified into the Spa and Wellness domain. He also holds a Master s degree in psychology and MBA. Dr. Manoj joined the wellness center at The BodyHoliday, LeSPORT in He has taught Traditional Hatha yoga at the Body Holiday for 6 years and moved to various other resorts within the region. Dr. Manoj has returned to The Body Holiday to take up the position of the Wellness Centre Director. His signature classes embody the sun salutation, asanas, pranayama, relaxation and meditation. The aim of his teachings is to help the disciple achieve higher levels of self-awareness and deeper relaxation. During his Octoba Yoga classes, he will be offering Special Techniques of Meditation which will include Chantings or hymns that focus on sound and thought; Mind Imagery the mind s visualization used to learn to slow down, speed up or stop; Pranic Re-energisation, or Vital Energy the contemplation on breath. Dr. MAHA LAKSHMAN After completing a medical Degree in holistic medicine from Dr.MGR Medical University, India, Maha started working as a Wellness Naturopathic consultant in India. He taught traditional yoga, breathing techniques and different types of meditation to the guests. Dr.Maha also worked in Cruise lines for 3 years as a Holistic consultant and Acupuncturist Dr.Maha joined the wellness center at The BodyHoliday, LeSPORT in 2012 to lead the Ayurvedic Centre. He also offers holistic consultations and various holistic therapies. During October yoga he will be offering special Technique called Spiritual eye gazing meditation. Spiritual Eye Gazing or Trataka is a process of concentrating the mind and curbing its oscillating tendencies. In Trataka, the result is a 'blanking out' of visual perception, and in the wake of this suspension, the central nervous system begins to function in isolation. The session also includes a short visual imagery meditation. Trataka is highly effective in treating dry eyes, improving vision, pre-vent cataract and other ageing signs of the eyes. Her Classes include: Beginner Friendly A great place to start! Explore the basics of Hatha yoga; good posture, correct alignment in simple poses and proper breathing techniques to enhance your yoga experience. Every level of yogi will benefit from this class. Back To Life Bring your back to life! Backbends, when done properly, can be a great source of energy and invigoration. In this class we actively warm up the spine to prepare the body for deep heart-opening and adrenal boosting pinnacle postures. Twist Your Way To Bliss Not only do twists make your back feel incredibly good and relaxed, they also improve posture as well as breathing. Releasing tension in the upper and lower back, twisting postures act as natural stress relievers. They also promote healthy detoxification massaging the organs that assist in digestion and metabolism. Head To Toe Power Flow This challenging and dynamic flowing form of yoga will transform your body and revive your spirit The class will include sun salutations drawn from the Ashtanga yoga tradition and incorporate additional power moves. You will gain total body strength, flexibility, experience better balance, core conditioning and notice an increase in stamina and endurance. Come to this class prepared to sweat! Happy Hips Everybody loves a hip dedicated class! In this class we will focus most of our attention on releasing deeply into the hips. If you walk, run, hike, play sports, practice yoga, ski, bike, or sit at a desk, chances are that you have tight hips. Participating in this class can help prevent injury and even boost your performance and make you feel more comfortable in your daily routine. This is also an effective way of alleviating back & knee pain and charging the emotional body for deep healing. Forward Bending & Inward Looking Forward bends offer a great opportunity to settle down and free the mind, but not if your hamstrings are tight and screaming. This class will take you through a sequence of moves to release the back of your body so you can take full advantage of these calming postures Body Balance A unique blend of Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates set to inspirational music. This program is designed to make you long, strong, focused, calm and centered. Yin Yoga This is a deep, restorative approach to your yoga practice. Yin offers long, meditative held poses to delve into the deep connective tissues. These postures will help to release stress and tension throughout the entire body, creating structural and mental balance.

6 Amanda Stokes Yoga Classes & Descriptions Hatha: This class is typically a gentle style of yoga and slow-paced best for beginners. In this class you will learn basic alignment principles, simple breathing exercises and meditation. Ashtanga: Also known as Power Yoga, this practice incorporates an intense flow of postures to build strength of body and mind. Ashtanga is both for those who have been practicing for a while and for those who do not have a regular practice that like a challenge and fast paced class. This flow helps to increase concentration, flexibility and strength. Variations are taught for each posture to suit students of all levels. Amanda Stokes: I was initially introduced to (and enamored by) yoga during my travels throughout South East Asia. Practicing on a small island in Thailand, I fell in love with its ability to transform...transform your day, your breath, your mindset, your body, and your awareness of all of the above. Upon moving home to Toronto, I continued my own practice and discovered so much about myself; where I was (and was not) in my life. I am incredibly happy with my decision to fully immerse myself in the YTT program at Yoga Space in Toronto, and finally complete my 200 Hour training. I credit my depth and understanding of the body and breath to my teachers, Kathryn Beet and Patricia White, as well as my love for yogic philosophy to the renowned vedic/yogic philosopher, Hali Schwartz; who opened the door to a whole new (spiritual) world for me. I currently teach Hot Hatha, Power Vinyasa Foundation, Breathe Flow Meditate and Core Fusion, at the Chopra Yoga Centre in Toronto. Furthermore, I volunteer at the YMCA teaching Hatha and Vinyasa to beginners as well as the traditional Ashtanga Primary Series. I disagree whole heartedly with the old adage No pain, No gain. I believe it should be natural to experience no pain during your workout and my philosophy leans more heavily in the direction of If it feels good, do it (if not, please don t!). My classes emphasize body awareness and relaxation, not just attaining the perfect posture. I feel so blessed to have found a career that I love that will always keep me creating, moving, growing and learning! Thank you for reading! Namaste. Vinyasa: This class will focus on linking breath to movement, each class is focused on fluid transitions between poses. This class promotes a proper balance of strength, endurance and flexibility. Breathe Flow Yoga: A slower approach to vinyasa yoga, this practice links poses mindfully while keeping your awareness at your breath. I change the sequence each week and provide variations for advancing levels as well as for those who require modifications. I end each class with a either a meditative svasana or a guided seated meditation to allow students to experience inner calm and deep relaxation. Core Fusion: This class is similar to a mixed level Pilates mat class focusing primarily on building abdominal/core strength. I, personally, begin the class with floor abdominal work (including crunches, twists, lower back exercises and navasana modifications), then flow in classical sun salutations to warm up the body. The rest of the class is a slow but powerful vinyasa flow with an emphasis on toning the muscles of the abdominals, buttocks, inner thighs, and some attention to the upper body, as well. Class participants will learn breathing patterns and spinal alignment. Great for people new to the practice of yoga and would like to focus on their core strength.
