We want to hear about all publically funded services, from GPs, dentists, pharmacists and hospitals to residential care, help at home, care assessments and day centres. We engage with and listen to what people from all parts of the community say so that we can offer reliable evidence that can be trusted. That way, we will have the credibility to speak with a voice that is heard and taken seriously by decision makers. Text (SMS): Website: enquiries@healthwatchsurrey.co.uk Call:
2 Carers Voice This is your chance to have your say. What are we doing well? What do we need to improve? Meet the NW team Hello, Please feel free to contact us, should you need any help, Information or advice Barbara Bowden Carer Support Advisor Seema Kang Hospital CSA St Peters Nicole Williams Carer Support Advisor Farhana Hussain Carer Support Advisor Carol Owttrim Military Coordinator Jacqui MacLean Senior Support Advisor Armed Forces Update: Hello, my name is Carol Owttrim. I served in the Army for 34 years. I joined Action for Carers in June Since joining I have been working on an Armed Forces Leaflet, which will be available soon explaining a little more of what I do and how Action for Carers can help you. I have been busy networking and building connections with Armed Forces Charities that support not only the serving members but the whole family.
3 Parent Carers Hello my name is Jacqui MacLean, I am the Senior Carers Adviser for NW Area and the Surrey lead for Parent Carers. I am a Parent Carer myself, so understand many aspects of what Parent Carers go through. I have completed the HighScope approach to early childhood care and education, 123 magic program and attended many other training courses along the way. My biggest achievement, however is my son who teaches me many things every day. We are in the process of creating a strategy for Parent Carers which, when completed, will give us an overall direction. We hope to take advantage of current resources and assets, and embrace new opportunities which will merge with your concerns. We will be contacting you in the near future to address any issues or problems. We will be developing the strategy to focus on how to get things done taking advantage of resources and emerging opportunities. Mental Health & Wellbeing My name is Rachel Brennan. I am the Senior Carers Adviser for SW Area and the lead for Mental Health and Wellbeing. I have a background in mental health and worked for the NHS as an Occupational Therapist. I have developed a strategy which includes: Carers caring for someone with a mental health problem having access to support groups in their, or another area at a time which suits them. Training days based on relevant issues held across Surrey. Providing support for carers to think about their own wellbeing through group work, one to one support and referral to appropriate community resources. A Surrey wide Mental Health Carers Reference group which will meet three times a year to ensure that carers have an effective voice in the strategy through ts continuous monitoring and improvement. If you are interested in being part of this group and are actively caring for someone with a mental health problem then please contact me. Regularly seeking carer feedback on events and the support which they helpful.
