From the President Nataysha Doyle Dear Members of The High Road on Dawson, What an amazing month July was! Thanks to all who made our 4th of July event successful. I want to give a special shout out to Richard Martinez for running the silent auction for this event. We raised over $1,000 on this part of the event alone. Here s to next year and watching the fireworks from the skyline patio with y all. The next time you are at the lodge take a look at new stairs off the back upstairs exit and the new lit up exit signs you see through out the lodge. These are the last things we have to do for the Fire Marshall to give us our Certificate of Occupancy and then we can apply for our TABC license. It is all coming together slowly but surely. I look forward to seeing you all this month at one of the many activities we have going on. AUG 2nd Live Music Come out for a great live show with a view! With Special Guests Malford Milligan & John Gaar For $10 you get easy parking, BYOB and live music. Music starts at 7:30pm, so head over for a swim and stay for the show. Bring friends and show off the great things your club can do!

2 Charity COmmittee Steve Bugg Committee Chair Mark your calendar for August 29TH We re having a pool party to help our Military Veterans High Road Members--call to action! As you know we have scheduled 4 charitable events this year. We had a blast with the first two and we are feverishly planning our 3rd and we can use your help. All you need to do is come out and support the lodge on August 29th. We are having a pool party y all! The focus: Military Veterans Band 7p-11p Hors d oeuvres Silent Auction Raffle! Proceeds will benefit the following: Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV): A program that provides information and enrollment for VA Benefits, referrals for medical care and mental health group therapy services, referrals to residential and inpatient substance abuse treatment, case management referrals to emergency shelter and transitional housing programs, ID s to meet basic needs. DVD for VETS: Mission is to provide entertainment to Vets who are unable to obtain movies on their own. All you have to do is bring some DVD (new or used) and drop them in the box. New portable DVD players are greatly appreciated. They will deliver to the nearest VA Facility. Many of our Vets are confined to bed 24/7 and this is a great way to give. Tickets are $15 in advance $20 at the door. Please reach out to your family and friends and invite them so we can make this the best event yet. We need your help to get word out! 2 The RoadMAP

4 Membership Application Process Are you a member wanting to invite a family member or friend to become a member of the High Road On Dawson? What s the process? You must be a member in good standing to sponsor/ propose an Applicant. Where do I get an application? You may pick up an application from the Lodge Secretary or in the, at the bar. What s next? The Applicant completes the application, you the sponsor sign/endorse the application, and return it to the Lodge with the non-refundable $100 application fee (check/charge/cash). Once the application is received and reviewed by the Lodge Secretary, a criminal history report through DPS will be run. Once those results have been obtained, the application will be given to the Membership Committee. Once the Membership Committee receives the application the Applicant will be sent an invitation to attend a one-on-one interview. The interviews are held on the 2nd or 4th Wednesday of each month. Once the Applicant responds to the invitation they will be put on the committee s agenda for the interview. Upon completion of the interview process a recommendation from the committee will be forwarded to the Board of Directors (BOD). After the Board s consideration and vote the Lodge Secretary will notify the Applicant of their standing. If the Applicant is accepted they are invited to come to the next Lodge Member meeting, to be introduced to the BOD and Membership. After the meeting the Applicant will pay their membership dues, which are annually $100 or prorated depending on the month of the year they become a member. 4 A Fraternal Organization Membership Application 700 Dawson Road Austin, Texas (512) The application for membership is also ONLINE! The RoadMAP Treasurer report Your treasurer is smiling and it is not because he has been on vacation! We continue to have record account balances in our checking, charity and newly formed savings accounts. At the same time spending money on Lodge business, repairs, legal fees and most importantly Charitable causes. In the past we were only able to support charities on a limited basis and mainly when we applied for and received a grant. Thanks to our members and your support we are sponsoring charity events on a quarterly basis and I will soon propose to the Board that they become monthly. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to help our community and those that cannot always help themselves - the thanks goes to you our members. April 26, 2014 Thanks to everyone that has been working on the permits for the emergency exit, for the Fire Marshal, for the next step of getting our TABC license back! Thank you to Diane V., who has been putting in hours behind the bar, in the kitchen, and helping in all kinds of ways. Rick G., thank you for getting the parking signs set up so we can earn some much-needed income from our great location. Lastly, a huge thank you from me (Jen) to Theresa N. who volunteered to do the layout for this month s Road Map! From Left to Right: Doris Richardson, Pat La Violette, Employee Bestwurst, Tim Richardson, Molly Batschelet, and Monica Keller Charity starts at home with those that give, and the following deserve a high five for their time, talents and energy for working the fundraiser. Tim Richardson and Ruth Reveile stepped up to be team leads for Eeyore s Birthday Party fundraiser, at the very last minute, when I had to attend a funeral out of town. Brett Barney, Molly Batschelet, Chris Bean, Jennifer Benner, Heather Bugg, Steve Bugg, Pati Dukett, Peter Geranios, Monica Keller, Pat La Violette, Rick Perkins, Jeff Ohman, Carrie York, all worked and delivered a delightful time to those they waited on. For you new members keep this event in mind next April, to volunteer at or just come out and buy some bratwurst from the booth. Again, this year Bestwurst was the Lodge s sponsor and the efforts of the members raised $2,000 for the lodge. Thanks to Tim A. and David M. for each bringing live music to our club. To all of our volunteer chefs, thank you for frying the fries, and grilling the burgers! Game Time! Our ping pong table is set up poolside, free for the using. Just check out paddles and balls at the bar window. The washer pits are cleaned up and ready as well, so come get your game on! The RoadMAP 5
