3 Bev Campbell, President The year is going way to fast. Here it is, December already. The bad news is that reports will need to be completed very soon, (by the end of Dec), but the good news is this has been a wonderful year so far. Each month I become more in awe of the members of this club when I see the dedication and commitment demonstrated month after month. I also truly appreciate the positive attitudes and team work I am observing. It certainly has exceeded my expectations for the first four months. It is hard to believe that with the January meeting we will be half way through the club year already. Congratulations and thank you for all your support and hard work. In December, we will have orientation for new members, put our X-JWC label in 244 books for Head Start, visit and tour Head Start facility, sell and distribute our Candy Bar sleighs, pack baskets with donated fruit and distribute 30 fruit baskets for Veterans, VA Home, and Hospice. The club is also donating money that will be used to purchase coupon books for the VA patients. Thank you Phyllis Salzburg for getting the King Super fundraiser cards program going. Free money and no effort! It doesn t get any better than that. I wish all of you blessed Holidays, and thank you for all your kindness and support. Program Reports Public Issues Committee partnered with Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce on Nov. 12th to help sort and pack care packages for the troops overseas. Many thanks to my group of 10 volunteers that gave of their time and efforts to this project! I so appreciated your help! The last project for 2015 will be to partner with Wyoming Coalition for the Homeless in collecting and donating warm winter coats in any size. Bring any coat donations to the Dec. meeting on the 1st, as the deadline for this is Dec. 2nd. I will see that our donations get to the Coalition. Public Issues Committee will meet shortly after the 1st of 2016 to plan projects for the rest of the year. Karen Lee Chair Public Issues Committee Arts Mary Ann Kamla It is time to think about the Membership Art Contest and the Membership Hobby/Crafts/Sewing Contests. The Art Contest consists of the following mediums;

We have so many talented ladies in our club, jump in and have fun with these contests! Gazebo in Botanic Gardens At one time each President of X-JWC was given $500 to be used for a CIP (Community Improvement Project) of her choice. Monies not used was left in the Treasury until a suitable project was found.

5 Shortly after Iris Trosper was installed as President, she found out that the two presidents before her had not used their monies, which meant that, with their money and hers, they would have $1,500 to spend. Betty Kline, Carol Pralle and Iris talked it over and decided to look into the purchase of the first Gazebo in the Botanic Gardens. Sadly, $1500 was not enough to purchase a "Ready made one but Capital Lumber Company said they would furnish all the materials if our club would find workers to put it together for our $1500. After twisting arms and making pleas, Iris's husband, Chuck Kline and Milt Biltinger agreed to put it together. Norm Pralle was still working and living in Harriman, so he helped out with moral support. Next step!! Permits. This became an obstacle to overcome, but we finally got the city to approve when they were told that all the work was done by volunteers. The day finally came when all the lumber, blue prints, etc. were delivered to Iris' driveway on Snyder and 8th Ave which was close to the park. Work began and even the principal builders consisted of 3 husbands and they had a lot of sidewalk helpers and Iris took gallons of lemon aid to help them tolerate the heat. They put in many long hours because the goal was to have it completed by the time Cheyenne celebrated its Bi Centennial. They made it on the day of the Ribbon cutting. Reporters from TV, radio and newspapers along with Botanic Gardens personnel and X-JWC members were in attendance. A great day and a lasting gift. Since its construction, many happy occasions have been held there including weddings, christenings, picnics, birthday parties, etc. A plaque has been posted inside with the names of the 3 past Presidents prescribed on it. Proud!! You bet we are! Submitted by Iris Trosper Leadership Tid Bits I d like to share something personal related to leadership this month. For the past four months I have had a challenge as club President. I knew I wanted to practice some of what I have learned about Leadership this past year. I have made every effort to encourage members to come up with new ideas, share ideas, partner with the community and implement new ideas. Just hanging back and let them be in control is easier said than done. What I have witnessed is women discussing, brainstorming and coming up with a plan as a team. Do I want to jump in and give my opinion? Absolutely! However, if I just hang back, they make good decisions and get the project done. It might not be the way I would do it, but it always works out and is a success. There is a happy and positive attitude around those stepping up and trying new things. They need support, not instruction or someone to

6 boss them. What do I mean by support? I am there to help and provide guidance. Hopefully, confidence will develop and it will become easier to find officers to fulfill positions. Bev Campbell, State Leadership Chair, (also President for X-JWC, Cheyenne, Wy) Happy Holidays!! Hotline deadline is the Friday before the Tuesday of the general meeting. Hard copies of the Hotline will be made for only the members who do not have . If you have , it will be ed to you sometime between Saturday and Monday just before the meeting. Tidbit from X-JWC Past 50 years A meeting with the Wheels of the Frontier Committee saw changes made in the club s parade costume business. Because they expressed a desire to assume more of the responsibility of dressing the parade floats, the garments were sold to them. X-JWC retained the right to maintain and replace the costumes for a substantial maintenance fee. A further increase was made for maintenance in (Editor note-we no longer are involved with the dresses for the parade. This summer I rode in the Frontier Days Parade and when I returned my dress, I overheard a conversation about some of the dresses from X-JWC are still being used)
