1 The Newsletter of Jerrabomberra Rotary RI District 9710 Volume 20 - No.40 Support the Rotary Foundation! 27 th April, 2017 WELCOME TO JERRA ROTARY! YOU DIDN T FORGET!! GREAT EFFORT EVERYONE! Enjoyed by all and was made to donate to Legacy! What a slick operational unit amazing organisation thanks to Liz and Paul Roger! Thanks Anton for the new lights they were brilliant! (Excuse the pun!!) Message from Paul Roger Big thank you to all who were able to turn out this morning for the ANZAC Day breakfast supporting the Dawn Service. Despite the weather the crowd was a little larger than last year, but not as many stayed for the food, unfortunately for our sales. We did however still manage to serve over 200 people, and our new set up with the serving area proved worth the try. Overall we took 976 in sales after deduction of the 300 float. Our expenses were So out net profit for the morning is kg of bacon and 4.5 dozen eggs were saved and will be used at the Mega Swim. I also dropped off 42 rolls and 3 dozen cooked sausages to a very appreciative Home in Queanbeyan later in the morning. So well done everyone, another successful ANZAC Day and I am sure the money we have raised for Legacy can be supplemented a little from our Project Account to be able to make a nice donations in the coming weeks. Thanks, Paul it was a great morning! Anyone have photos? Please forward to Chris or maybe we were all too busy to even think of that! 1 Welcome to the Dear Everyone, Thanks to Mez who actually did take notes from the meeting I missed but I gazumped her in my eagerness to remind everyone about the Anzac Day BBQ. Bill Lilley, John Snedden and Peter Jarvis from Queanbeyan West took on the joint roll of mentoring the development of the new club. (Peter Jarvis went on to become our Charter President). Advertising for potential members began in March After a successful campaign, the Club was chartered on 18 November 1998 with 26 members. Initial meetings were held at the Jerrabomberra General Store the venue was very good until we grew in numbers. We then moved to the Jerrabomberra Community Centre for a few years, and we now meet at the Jerrabomberra Public School Staff Room, on Thursdays (6.15 for 6.30 pm). (Charter) President Peter Jarvis ran competitions to select a name for our Club Newsletter and a design for the Club banner. There were some good and some not so good suggestions. Pam Spencer suggested the winning bulletin name Jerraganda and David Stevens was the successful designer of our club banner. The design incorporated a goose and the windmill associated with the original entrance to the estate adjacent to the Community Centre. Both the Jerraganda and the Club logo have evolved to keep pace with modern times. We have always been, and continue to be, a vibrant and fun loving club providing valued community service, both locally and internationally. Our motto is, Doing Good and Having Fun 9
