Welcome to the Dear Everyone, Chilly is back! Seems you are on the mend soon, Chilly. None of that malt mix for you in the near future though!! Good to see you recovering! Welcome back to our wandering secretary, Lizzie. Hope you had a great trip to Alaska and Scotland. GUEST SPEAKER Desmond Woods RC Canberra. A great talk and slideshow was enjoyed by all. Desmond is so passionate about the Zambian school with which he has been associated for some years. The toilet block built was a tremendous asset to the community. 13 clubs contributed to build toilets, showers and add running water. Funds are being sort to build at another school Lyndol School. Looking for clubs to join together to support this project as well as an RI grant. It was impressive to see how the students respected and looked after the toilets something to be shared with students at the Tonga project. Many members seemed interested in assisting this project at some stage. 1 PLEASE, Don t forget! Would love market reports to be sent to me by the Sunday afternoon so that I can complete the Jerraganda. Any photos would also be great just to me on: chris.hunter@det.nsw.edu.au Any reminders or extra news, also just me Enjoy, Chris Hunter Editor

2 All donations to Limpala Cedrics Basic School in Zambia would be greatly appreciated! It is just $22 a month to support a child s education that s $264 a year. Not much really! No you are not seeing double two different presentations look at the cheques! 2

Report this week by: Sue Roger The morning started off cold and drizzling with rain but cleared up towards the end with the sun finally emerging with a bit of blue sky and white clouds. With the rain came a few complaints about the muddy carpark and gravely conditions. I told a few that it was a free obstacle course to test their enthusiasm for market shopping! There was also the usual Where is the ATM? as well as the odd dog trying to infiltrate the market. ACT Health was also on the prowl interviewing stall holders, etc for compliance. A few of our regular table hire people were away so table takings were down. Despite the rain, the markets were very busy. There was one complaint from a German? person who said the coffee man s cry was too loud and spoilt the enjoyment of the market. This maybe so but I need to know when my coffee is ready when I m at our stall! Thanks very much to Chilly who came to help pack up when Paul left to go visioning! All in all, a good day with $10.50 of donations. For next week we need a new Water sign as it s gone missing. Also more water is needed as there is not much left. Everything else seems OK. Bill Lilley, John Snedden and Peter Jarvis from Queanbeyan West took on the joint roll of mentoring the development of the new club. (Peter Jarvis went on to become our Charter President). Advertising for potential members began in March After a successful campaign, the Club was chartered on 18 November 1998 with 26 members. Initial meetings were held at the Jerrabomberra General Store the venue was very good until we grew in numbers. We then moved to the Jerrabomberra Community Centre for a few years, and we now meet at the Jerrabomberra Public School Staff Room, on Thursdays (6.15 for 6.30 pm). (Charter) President Peter Jarvis ran competitions to select a name for our Club Newsletter and a design for the Club banner. There were some good and some not so good suggestions. Pam Spencer suggested the winning bulletin name Jerraganda and David Stevens was the successful designer of our club banner. The design incorporated a goose and the windmill associated with the original entrance to the estate adjacent to the Community Centre. Both the Jerraganda and the Club logo have evolved to keep pace with modern times. We have always been, and continue to be, a vibrant and fun loving club providing valued community service, both locally and internationally. Our motto is, Doing Good and Having Fun 8
