1 We will make a trip to Walgreens on the corner of County Farm Rd. and Roosevelt. This is also an opportunity for those interested in stopping at Chase Bank or Wheaton Bank & Trust. For your convenience, there is a banker from Wheaton Bank & Trust at Wyndemere and Westbridge each Wednesday. The banker is located in the small room across from the Administrative offices at Wyndemere. The location at Westbridge is the second floor Private Dining Room. Tuesdays at 10:30am Sign up at Front Desk Wyndemere: 9:00am-11:00am Westbridge: 11:00am-11:45am In order to accommodate our residents who have appointments, we ask that you request a bus reservation with the receptionist at the front desk as soon as possible. The bus schedule is often very tight, and it is most helpful to schedule the trips as early as you know about them. Thank you for your cooperation. Please be mindful of arriving in the lobby a few minutes prior to your scheduled bus pick-up time in order to keep the bus schedule moving as smoothly as possible. Thank you.
2 Borrowing Movies We are now storing donated DVDs in the Wyndemere library that may be borrowed. If you are interested in borrowing, you do not need to check the DVDs out; it is based on the honor system. Please feel free to add to the DVD collection if you have any you would like to donate. Wyndemere Reads This Month s Selection: Once Upon a Town, The Miracle of North Platte Canteen by Bob Greene. Discussion led by Karen Henry Date: Monday, March18th 1:30-3:00pm Activity Center Contact Kelly at for additional information. New members welcome!
3 Special Interest Conservation Corner Do Hangers Reproduce? The observation phase of empirical studies show that clothes hangers do reproduce. That is not all, whether wood, plastic, or metal, they seem to easily get entangled. I do not know the issues involved, but something in their life makes them overlap, face the wrong way, and even shed the article they are supposed to protect. Please check at the front desk if you are missing something. There are many items, including a hearing aid, keys, and glasses waiting to be claimed. Convenience Store Cards Always Available: Birthday, Get Well Sympathy Convenience Store Hours: Mon-Thurs & Sat 7:30am-7:00pm Friday 7:30am-4:00pm Closed Sunday Hangers are not recyclable. Maybe that is the problem. They have been shunned by recycling centers. Therefore, the only alternatives are to keep them in circulation or go to a landfill. Recycling centers have a good reason for not accepting hangers. The unusual shape and that hook at the top foul up recycling conveyor belts and machinery. All is not lost! You can keep hangers out of landfills and scrap metal dumpsters. Try this: (1) return them to your dry cleaners, (2) do not accept hangers when purchasing clothes, and (3) give them to a resale shop. Notes: (1.) Medicine containers may now be recycled like any other glass or plastic. They are no longer sent to the nurse s office for reuse. You should remove the labels before placing them in the recycling container. (2.) Do not recycle Styrofoam. We no longer take Styrofoam to the Dart manufacturing plant in Aurora. You should place Styrofoam containers in the garbage. Place large pieces next to the trash container and housekeeping employees will remove.

8 Wyndemere Music Department Notes Intro to Handbells and Golden Bells Jo Ann Foss started on May 1st as the director of handbells. She has a music education degree from Augustana College in Rock Island. She has taught in public schools at the elementary and junior high levels, leading both vocal and handbell choirs. She has directed her church choir and handbell choir for over 40 years. She has been on the board of directors for Youth Symphony of DuPage for 30 years. Jo Ann is excited to be working with the ringers at Wyndemere. She welcomes all interested people at any level. Music is a great way to develop your talents, share them with others and bring great joy to participants and listeners alike. Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays at 9:00am for beginning bells followed at 9:30am by the Golden Bells in Anderson Auditorium. WyndeSingers With the recent retirement of our beloved Choir Director, Larry Rossi, the Wynde- Singers are getting a new look! Piano accompanist & WyndeBar performer, Mary Lou Fischer, is now leading the charge! The format will be a little different in that the group will no longer be a choir in the strict sense of the word. Instead, we'll have a good, old fashioned weekly sing-a-long. If you love to sing or just want to listen, drop in! Tuesdays at 10:30am in the auditorium.
