2 Love your Mum! Chrysanthemums or Gardens mums are the most popular flowers next only to Roses. Chrysanthemums belong to the family Asteraceae (Compositae), one of the largest families of flowering plants with over 1,000 genera and about 20,000 species. Chrysanthemum flowers are a favorite among home landscapers, not only because of their colorful flowers, but because they bloom in the autumn, when many other flowers have long since passed their peak. Chrysanthemum flowers are available in a wide array of colors - from white, to yellow and gold, pink, orange, bronze, deep red, maroon, violet and purple. The modern Men s Shed is an updated version of the shed in the backyard that has long been a part of Australian culture. Men s Sheds are springing up all around Australia. If you looked inside one you might see a number of men restoring furniture, perhaps restoring bicycles for a local school, maybe making Mynah bird traps or fixing lawn mowers or making a kids cubby house for Camp Quality to raffle. You might also see a few young men working with the older men learning new skills and maybe also learning something about life from the men they work with. You will see tea-bags, coffee cups and a comfortable area where men can sit and talk. You will probably also see an area where men can learn to cook for themselves or they can learn how to contact their families by computer. Les and Michelle are also owners of the Sanctuary Point IGA store. Not ones for stepping back, when it comes to dressing up for special occasions and supporting volunteers and charitable organisations... Who do you think the Papa Smurf and Smurfette look alikes might be? They were captured topples, riding around the Basin Area on Thursday 17th April 2014 in the Pink Mini Moke, without a top on...that is the Mini Moke was topples! Well done Les and Michelle for all you both do, for others in our communities!

7 Know Your CROSSROADS RURAL FIRE SERVICE One day they may save your life! Page 7 NSW Rural Fire Service have almost completed their latest Fire Station at Vincentia, alongside of the Bay & Basin Leisure Centre. Here is the new base for the CROSSROADS RURAL FIRE SERVICE almost in completion, and ready to cover the fire service from the amalgamation of Sanctuary Point, Hyams Beach and Erowal Bay fire services. The first members meeting and AGM will be held on Monday 5th May and the Public Open Day will be held on... Saturday 24th May 2014 and you are invited to show your support and appreciation, for the faces we seldom see, but always need, when things get out of control! If you would like to join these men and women who protect our homes and lives... You also can become a volunteer member of the Crossroads Rural Fire Service... 8 Know this number and when you see a maintenance or graffiti problem in the Shoalhaven... Get on the telephone and make the call (02) I recently had the pleasure to speak on my Newsletter at a local charity organisation on the 10th April 2014 and while I was there, I handed out the City Maintenance Help us to Help you! Maintenance & Graffiti Reporting Line card to all in attendance. Since that meeting I have already had two of the members from the group, from which I spoke, contact me to say they had used the card to contact the reporting line on maintenance issues... And both were very pleased with Shoalhaven Councils response! One person reported a fairly recent sighting of dumped items on the side of the roadway just south of Larmer Avenue and the Wool Road at Sanctuary Point and the other used it to report the unkempt verge and Storm Water Drain on the corner of Tibbles Avenue and Mac Gibbon Parade Old Erowal Bay. Both of these maintenance issues were by no way due to any fault or blame on the part of Shoalhaven Council. Both of these issues were promptly and efficiently attended to by Council and I was asked if I would write up a thank you in my newsletter... On behalf of the persons who reported these incidents and on my own behalf, I ask that Council accept our Gratitude and Thanks for the impressive action taken by council, after they both used the... 10 If you think something is Wrong, phone it in on the POLICE ASSISTANCE LINE call It will be recorded as an Incident and passed on to the appropriate Police Station to follow up It will also become a Statistic and they can be used for the allocation of Police in your local area. Remember... It will be recorded as an incident in the area where it occurred and when allocating additional resources to an area, priority is usually given to the areas, where phoned in incidents are reported... These indicate where hot spots are and need additional resources! HELP THEM!... HELP US!...PHONE IT IN! If it is an EMERGENCY... call 000 and ask for Police. or CRIME STOPPERS... call When you have had enough! Remember If you want to stop Crime I mean You really want to stop Crime Commit yourself to a SIGNED STATE- MENT and you will REALLY give your POLICE something to WORK WITH!
