Outdoor Enthusiasts Group Lynn Whetstone The Outdoor Enthusiasts' Group gets together year round to enjoy hiking, snowshoeing, other outdoor activities (and good companionship!) in the beautiful Lake Tahoe area. We are currently snowshoeing, and are hoping for some more good storms to help prolong the season. We meet at 9:30 AM every Monday (weather permitting) in the lower parking lot of the Village Church at the Mt. Rose Hwy. and McCourry Blvd.; from there we carpool to our hiking/ snowshoeing location. Please contact Lynn Whetstone at Lwhetstone@prodigy.net or if you would like to participate and be notified of upcoming hikes or snowshoeing activities by . During the warmer months, there is also a group that kayaks from Ski/Hermit Beach in Incline Village at 9 AM most Wednesday mornings. Our kayaking activities have concluded for this season. 3 Programs Connie Skidmore & Haley Abel. The February AAUW Membership Dinner Meeting will be held on February 20th beginning at 5:30 PM for social hour, 6:30 PM for Crosby's delicious dinner, and followed by a program at 7:15 PM. This month we will be having Ann M. Sura, N.D., a Naturopathic Doctor and manager of NaturaMed Natural Family Medicine in Kings Beach. Dr. Sura has a B.S. degree from Regents University, New York, and a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM) in Tempe, Arizona. She specializes in women's health care, endocrinology and nutrition. Dr. Sura's mother is an AAUW life member in Michigan so she has been acquainted with AAUW and its mission and work over the years. We are happy to welcome Dr. Sura as our program presenter this month, and look forward to hearing about her direction in women's wellness and family medicine programs. Please come join in an AAUW evening of meeting with friends, devouring delectable food, and learning from Dr. Ann Sura. Public Policy Joanie Nygren Happy Inauguration Day and a To-Do List for the Obama Admini- Women were the key to President Obama s re-election. Now it s time for women voters to hold the president accountable. AAUW has created a short to-do list to help the administration kick off its second term. Help us spread he word and celebrate Inauguration Day-by sharing this blog! 1 forbid federal contractors from retaliating against employees who ask about pay 2 allow the sale of Plan b emergency contraception to women younger than 18 3-Enhance and accelerate the Department of Defense s sexual assault prevention initiative Remember that 20 point gender gap in the election? We re watching. Women were the key to the Obama administration s re-election. As such, AAUW has created a short to-do list to help the administration kick off it s second term. This post was written by AAUW Political Media Coordinator, Elizabeth Owens. Used Book Sales We are still having our used book sales at the dinner. Lynn Flagg and Sherie Schmauder are in charge.
