2 JAC'S PRESIDENTS CORNER HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I hope all our Jensen's Communities residents and their families had a great Holiday season. I would like to introduce myself to the residents. My name is Diane Bonney. I am the new President of the Jensen's Activity Club. I live in Forest Hill at 23 Brookside Drive. I have been a resident for ten years. I would like to invite residents to attend our monthly meetings which are held on the 4 th Tuesday of the month. We would like to hear your ideas on what you would enjoy as far as speakers, activities, entertainment and dinners. I will have committee sign-up sheets at the meeting. Hope to see you. Sincerely, Diane Bonney 2

3 Now that winter is here we are left to look forward to the snow and cold weather. Let's hope it's not a bad winter. We have plenty to do to occupy your time if you would like to get out of the house. Come and join us. We play Hand & Foot Monday night, Left, Right Tuesday night. Every other Wednesday starting January 11 th we have the Ladies Coloring Group get together. Thursday night there is Pokeno. Friday night is Set Back. There are daytime activities as well. You will find all the activities and times listed on the Reminder of Weekly Activities and Times. We have a lot of books and movies in DVD and VHS in our library at the back of the main hall. There is also a TV with built in VCR if you would like to borrow to view the VHS movies. The Fitness Center is open to anyone wishing to use it. You need a pool key which opens the door to the Fitness Center, and the rest rooms are at the end of the hall. Contact Mike Tancredi, he is the person to call if you need a key. His number is We would like to have a dance class at the club. Line dancing or whatever you would be interested in. If there is any interest, we might be able to plan a dance for some time this year. Call me with your thoughts on this. We had scheduled Chair Yoga for the fall. However, it did not happen. We are hoping to start this class in May. Please let us know if you would like to be part of this program. Weight Management & Support Group on Wednesday January 4 th at 11am we will start the new group at the club house. This is not a diet program but support for losing or maintaining a healthy weight with suggestions and recipes. There will be a nominal weekly fee which will be won at the end of each month by the one who has lost the most weight for that month. Join us on the 4 th at 11am or join us at 10am for exercise and stay for some helpful hints on losing those added holiday pounds. There are a lot of new residents who came to Jensen's this past year and we hope you will come to the club to become familiar with the activities and make new friends. Many friendships have been made here and our residents are warm and friendly. Please join us. The Ladies Breakfast Club meets the third Thursday of each month at the Oasis Restaurant at 9:00am on Pine St. in Bristol, across from the 99 Restaurant. If you would like to be picked up call Barbara Desrosiers at Please let us know if you will be coming so we can make reservations. In October Mr. Robert Hunt the Fire Inspector from the Southington Fire Department gave a presentation at the clubhouse. He explained how to keep safe from fire. His presentation was very interesting and informative. We will ask him to come back this year! We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming activities. Barbara Desrosiers *********************************************************************************************************************** We new residents to Jensen's Communities and the Jensen's Activity Club! Also, if you have learned of a resident who has passed away, or lost a loved one, we would like to send a sympathy card to the family, please advise Peggy. The club is cleaned once a week, on Wednesday night. Management has placed a blue binder in the main hall, for us to list anything we feel needs attention. This notebook is in the kitchen, to the left of the stoves. The cleaners will check the notebook weekly and make sure these things are taken care of. However, if something is not on the contract that you feel needs to be done, management will have to renegotiate the contract with the cleaning company. We would appreciate if everyone would pick up after their activity. This will help keep our club house neat and the cleaning cost down. There is a phone in the rear of the clubhouse, lower level hall across from the Fitness Center. This phone is for emergencies only! Please fill this form out if there is a project you need Jensen's to address; it must be in writing! You can use this form or them at ctoperations@jensencommunities.com. Please do not ask the maintenance people about doing a project, it is not their responsibility! These forms are also available at the club house, the corporate office and the maintenance people have them. We are scheduling meetings to activate the Block Watch for each community. We need several people who would be willing to be a community representative, to be sure residents in your community know who to contact if there was a concern in your community. A police representative will be available at a date and time to be announced, to explain how the Block Watch works. It would greatly help everyone to feel safe with all that is going on these days. Volunteers are what make our activities a success! Please call Barbara Desrosiers if you would like to be on this committee. We need at least two people from each community. 4
