1 Mid & West Wales Safeguarding Board Programme for National Safeguarding Week 2018 Activities carried out prior to the week across ALL themes: National Safeguarding Week logo to be used by all organisations Welsh Government Media Promotion throughout the week, using hashtags #NSW18Wales #WDGCymru18 1. Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) campaign launch FGM awareness campaign was launched from the 05/10/2018 for 8 weeks. Dyfed-Powys Police are linking in with partners in Health to include FGM awareness into the National Safeguarding week. FGM home office literature disseminated to women s aid, children s services, health and other partners. 2. Cybercrime Awareness On 5th of October a cybercrime training and awareness day held at Carmarthen police HQ in collaboration with Get Safe Online. Approximately 80 attendees from various external bodies and Public Service Boards including School head teachers, carers, the county council, the fire service and foster carer - staying safe online including online scams, malware, secure passwords, personal information, social media and child safety online. 3. Modern day slavery SIO Course 7th-9th November 2018 held at police HQ. It will be a course run jointly with CPS - lawyers also participating. An opportunity to learn more about running slavery/trafficking/exploitation investigations, which can be extremely challenging often with reluctant victims. 1. Money Trust - Talk Learn Do Grow to be run: Cardigan: Penparcau: :30-3:30pm, Family Centre Aberporth: pm Llanarth: pm 2. Llandysul Family Centre A money advice session on the 8 th November 3. Digital Communications and Cyber Crime UnitCorporate communication team to put out a publication around staying safe online and a link to the Get Safe Online website. 4. Ceredigion County Council Newsmaster message will go out on Friday 9 th November Displays will go up in Ceredigion County Council Main office receptions ( Penmorfa and Canolfan Rhiedol) 5. Coleg Ceredigion Will deliver Tutorials to students on the theme of Exploitation and also cover 6. Bullying as it Anti Bullying Week, delivered across both campuses. 6. Family Centres Displays utilising the links and information provided to support NSW and putting out information on Facebook. 7. Sessions to be held before, during and following NSW, which runs alongside let s talk money week 1. Live streaming the Signs of Safety (SoS) Gathering (Live from Dublin) raising the profile of safeguarding and SOS Tuesday 6 th Thursday 8th November. 2 Mid & West Wales Safeguarding Board Programme for National Safeguarding Week CSE The theatre company Arad Goch have been touring Secondary schools throughout Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire with their new production about sexual exploitation called Hudo/Temptation. The production raises young people s awareness of CSE and their rights and the law in the field of sexual exploitation. Development of a training/awareness package for the night time economy in collaboration with the four local authorities and the Security Industry authority. This is scheduled to be rolled out during November Multi agency Childrens Safeguarding Fora Topics: CSE, County Lines, PRUDIC, Child Practice Reviews, Suicide Prevention. Programme of events listed on website 3. Daily Tweets 1. Daily engagement with public and staff via safeguarding-themed information in County Hall reception. Members of safeguarding service to run this. National media campaign throughout the week, using hashtags #NSGW18 #WDGCymru18 1. Throughout the week messages on Hywel Dda Intranet and video clip, backed up by posters throughout the hopsitals within Hywel Dda on stop it now - advice on how to advise/ report concerns regarding patients/staff who may be accessing indecent images of children online. 2. The launch of a competency book for professional staff on Safeguarding to compliment their CPD,and a Information database based on the NHS England Safeguarding App which will be on avaiable on all desk tops within Hywel Dda Health Board. Organisational communications: 1. Each organisation can use the daily theme posters to raise awareness 2. Selfie frames will be made available for each area to utilise on socila media where possible 1. Key messages will go out each day on social media o Advocacy link adults & children o Promote MHM. o Adult Safeguarding Threshold document o Be safe in college o Financial o Anti-slavery 2. Flying Start staff will be talking with parents about preparing for Universal Credit, budgeting etc leading up to Talk Money Week (12-18 November). 3. Let s Talk Money week 12 th 18 th November including information on Financial Exploitation 1. Junior Safeguarding group Eat Carrots, will have infiormation and a rap song display in County Hall Reception, Llandrindod for PCC staff, members & public. 2. Lunch & Learn sessions on CSE will run throughout the week venues TBC 3. Info on National Themes will be shared on PCC social media accounts and intranet SAFEGUARDING WEEK 2018 Page 3 of 9

In partnership with DPJ Foundation, daily safeguarding & suicide/resiliencethemed 2. Launch of online Suicide Awareness/Prevention training module. Daily tweets and updates to staff. 3. Pembrokeshire s Junior Safeguardians in association with Young Choices for Youth Forum is delivering a safeguarding session for young people with additional needs on the 12 th November at Pembrokeshire Archives 1. 11am to 2pm Board Room Glangwilli Hospital Carmarthen. Stalls and displays with refreshments available to staff with messages on Safeguarding both adults and children. White ribbon messages supported by local sports team. Encouragement to sign online pledge. Information on CSE, MDS, Adult safeguarding. Hafan Cymru suppling a stall/display also. 1. LAC/ Ray Ceredigion Children in Need Project. An activity delivered in partnership to raise awareness of the dangers of grooming. The session will include video, discussion and activities that will enable young people to recognise the dangers of grooming. Held at Ray Ceredigion from 3.30pm-7pm 1. 5 Tuesday 13 th November 2018: Sexual Exploitation World Kindness Day Mid & West Wales Safeguarding Board Proramme for National Safeguarding Week 2018 Sexual Exploitation 2. Sexual exploitation booklets hand delivered to local hoteliers 3. CSE Neighbourhood policing teams (NPT), specialist CSE officers & school liaison officers (SLO) will undertake the following: CSE investigators to visit high risk CSE nominals SLO s to deliver CSE lessons throughout the week reminding children of the dangers. CSE Investigators to link with NPT teams to visit care homes and provide advice leaflets/posters regarding CSE. PCSO s to target identified CSE hotspots and increase visibility in areas where children congregate during lunchtimes/end of school day Visit local youth clubs to speak to children and raise awareness around CSE. Visit leisure and sport facilities and disseminate CSE posters in relation to CSE. Visits to persons subject of child abduction notices and high risk CSE perpetrators to gather information/intelligence CSE Investigators to attend briefings to remind officers of Operation Medford Corporate Coms team to post messages raising awareness around CSE on social media 1. Stall and information display in Prince Philip Hospital supported by Trading Standards Department- Highlighting issues of risks of financial abuse of elderly/ adults at risk 1. The young delegates who attend the conference will receive a newly designed module Keeping Children, Young People and Adults Safe in Pembrokeshire as well as completing a workshop with Charlie Waller Memorial Trust. NPT engagement Neighbourhood teams to visit key locations of potential exploitation in our force area (e.g. Car washes etc) and deliver information posters (various language options). The key aim is to: Raise workers awareness to fact that they re potentially being exploited labour rights etc Make workers aware of support mechanisms and opportunities available to them make them aware that they could be better off Sign post to key agencies and provide contact numbers Posters to be translated into their likely language of choice Stall display in Withybush Hospital jointly supported by members of Adult and Children safeguarding Team advising on current issues, training and where to access information and support 1.
